‘Bates Motel’ spoilers for Season 4 Finale Episode 10 ‘Norman’ tease that the finale will pick up right where episode 9 left off and that means Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) performing what he hopes is life-saving CPR on Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga).
The spoilers trailer for the Season 4 finale show Romero carrying Norma out after attempting to save her life. Ambulance and police are on-scene. Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) is alive, of course, thanks to Romero but neither may be happy about that.
At the hospital, a recovered Norman finds himself on the receiving end of violence at the hands of angry stepdad Romero, who slams him into the wall in a fit of rage. If Norma did survive, is she in a coma? ‘Bates Motel’ finale spoilers tease that Norman will plan a special event for his mother.
Is that special event a funeral or wake? Romero will be pressured over some of the actions he has taken recently while Dylan Massett (Max Thieriot) thinks about reaching out to Norman. ‘Bates Motel’ showrunner Carlton Cuse told TVLine that episode 10 is an “emotional response” to episode 9.
There are certainly emotions on display in the trailer as Romero rages and throws something through the window of the house. Cuse told Variety that the finale events will “set up the final season where we bring Norman to a place much closer to ‘Psycho’ [the film inspiration for the prequel series].”
Cuse added, “Going into season 5, Norman moves closer to a version of the character that we’re familiar with from the movie and while the show is going to cross through events from the movie, we’re not interested in literally depicting the events from the movie.”
Norman portrayer Freddie Highmore said that Norman’s murder-suicide with his mom was “sad but understandable” and added that Norman felt that was “the best for both of them.” It certainly looks like Norma is dead – or at least standing on death’s door ringing the bell…
How will Romero and Norman move forward? It seems like nothing can mend this tragically broken family. Will Romero regret saving Norman? If Romero has to lose Norma, it seems like having Norman around will be a bitter reminder.
With Norma out of commission and likely dead, will Dylan and Romero ship Norman off to the nuthouse? Will the Season 4 Episode 10 finale wrap with Norman being strapped into a straitjacket and taken away? We’ll see…
