#Billions starts with Axe, Lara and the kids out to eat. They’re talking sports and then Bobby sends the kids into an ice cream shop when he sees their car was tagged with the F word. He calls their driver to bring another car. Later, he plays pool when Lara comes upstairs.

He asks if the kids are asleep and she says she’s glad he shielded the kids. She says that was scary and she doesn’t scare easy. She says she can feel the hatred. She says maybe they should move way for a while. Bobby says they won’t be chased from their home.

A school bus pulls up and protestors get out in front of the offices of Axe Capital. They are chanting and waving signs. Shawn is waiting in Bobby’s office and tells him he’s not just a symphony hall fund raiser and says he manages the legacy.

He mentions anonymous donations to the poor and says they need to rename the building. Axe says pay me back with interest and he can. Shawn says they can’t give the money back and suggests calling it Freedom Hall. Bobby says his lawyers will own the place.

He says Axelrod Hall or f-k off. Shawn stands and leaves. Chuck sits with Adam and says it’s a good thing that he’s got an inside guy at Axe Cap and says the bad news is great. He says this big takedown is good for justice and the country. He says optics matter.

Chuck says he recused himself but Adam says all eyes are on you and says they can get him any resources he needs. Chuck talks big and then Adam says he thought he recused himself. The traders listen to the protestors.

One of the traders goes out and says I don’t scream at you at your job – then says wait, you don’t have a job. Donnie is called to meet with Axe and the surveillance team calls Bryan to listen. Terri is there too and tells Bryan about the picketers at Axe Cap.

Donnie and Axe talk about Kemlot and he says go long and says he’s certain. He takes Donnie to his new panic room and the transmission cuts out. Terri curses. She says get a tech in there. They walk back out and Donnie says he appreciates it. Bobby says trust me and get it done.

Donnie is ready to buy the shares of Kemlot. He hesitates then goes to get a drink. Wendy is in the break room. She sees him looking uncertain and says he lost weight. She says they’re all bearing the burden of his actions.

He says he’s dealing with so much money at this level and she says think of it as poker chips or ammo. Donnie says he’s haunted by an image of falling on train tracks and he’s tied up and the engine is bearing down but he can’t make his hands cut the ropes.

She asks if he feels trapped and thinks he deserves what’s coming. She says you don’t and he says he does and says it’s too late but he’s lied to people. She asks who he’s lying to and he says this business makes liars of people.

She says he can talk to her and he says they both know who you answer to. She says there is a Chinese wall between her and her husband. He says that’s not who he’s talking about. He walks out. The surveillance guy says he’s folding.

Terri says she’s sure. Donnie calls Pouch over to show him he’s buying a bunch of shares and asks him to also buy another 800 thousand shares. Donnie pulls off his shirt and puts it on his chair. The tech says he thinks Axe built a safe room.

They ask him to clean up the file. Terri says she thinks Donnie has the yips but is not running. Donnie left his shirt with the camera in the button on his chair and leaves in his car. Chuck comes to Bryan and asks why Adam knows he has an inside man.

Bryan explains why and Chuck says the AG wants to be on the podium. Bryan says Donnie made a major move based on inside info from Bobby. Terri comes in and says Donnie has gone missing. Lara finds her family waiting – looks like an intervention.

They tell her that Dean would have not liked this. Lara says they have given so much to first responders. They tell Lara they need a plan and says Bobby has to clean up the mess. Lara says they will. One of her brothers tells her she married a criminal and needs to divorce his ass and walk away for her boys.

Wendy comes looking for Donnie and finds Pouch eating at his desk. He says he hasn’t seen Donnie since this morning when she asks. She tries to call Donnie and gets Ben Kim. He says Donnie left his phone on his desk.

Axe’s assistant says Raul Gomez is calling. He tells Bobby sorry and says he can have 90 days. Bobby says he won’t hold him hostage and says he’d leave too then tells him the door is always open for him to come back and make some more money. Raul says he hopes they get there.

Wendy comes in and tells him Donnie walked out and left his phone after a strange conversation. He asks why she’s worried and she says she can’t break confidentiality. He says he’ll try and find him and sends a text about finding Donnie.

Fire inspectors show up to Lara’s restaurant and they write them up. They set off the sprinklers and Lara asks if this is how it’s going to go down. Lu and Lara walk out annoyed. The fire inspector tells the customers they have to leave and the place is shut down.

Axe sends coffee and donuts out to the protestors but they turn it down. They remind him it’s private property and they can kick them out but he says no. Bryan asks Terri if she’s found Donnie yet. She says no and says Chuck is obviously still involved in the case.

A couple of Axe’s people pack up their stuff and leave with the plan to never come back since the ship is sinking. Axe is in a chill chamber and tells Wags it’s amazing. He says Channing and Carly and Wilson are gone and took some analysts too.

He shows Axe video of them clearing their desks. Axe says he brought all of this on them 15 years ago. He says listen to them, keep an eye out, then hobble them. Chuck goes to see the judge assigned to Dollar Bill’s case.

Wilcox says he’s tough but fair and says if he finds illegal benefit, he will make it clear to the jury. Chuck says he wouldn’t have it any other way then says he’s not hands on and then asks about a warrant for Axe’s house.

Wilcox says no and says if he wants to bug Axe’s home, they should bug all the employees’ homes which would include Chuck’s home too. He says it’s civil liberty and human decency at stake. Chuck walks out. Bryan hears about the Kemlot trade and how much it will make for Axe.

They still can’t find Donnie, though. Kate and Bryan make plans to celebrate. Bryan isn’t happy to find out Terri still can’t find Donnie. Lara comes to see Mike who says she got the ups of marrying Axe and now gets the downs.

She asks if he’s blurring lines and helping people being pissed off. She says Bobby has given so much money to support the fire fighters and says it’s a quarter of a billion dollars. She says no one did anything to hurt them. He says he doesn’t see that.

Lara calls him a simpleton and says that’s why it didn’t work out between them. Chuck takes a call from Bryan who says Donnie is still missing. He says they have surveillance on his family, are tracking his house, relatives, etc.

Lara comes to see Bobby and he says he’ll get the restaurant violations clear. She says she doesn’t think the local captain will stop this. She says the 9/11 stations are calling the shots. Bobby says he’ll fix it. Chase comes to see Wendy at work. She says it’s a bold move.

He says he was there to see Wags because he has some guys who wants to come to work there. He asks why she turned down the dream job. She says she can’t walk away from this place now and says the people here need her the most right now.

Chase says there’s a bar opening and would like to see her there. Wendy says he needs to go before this looks weird. Lara knocks and comes into the office. She introduces her to Chase who leaves. Lara asks if they can sit.

She tells Wendy that she needs advice. She says the hatchet job on Bobby caused them to come after her restaurant. She says it hurts her family, her staff, and says it’s all they have. She asks Wendy what she would do if she was targeted yet had done nothing wrong.

She asks if it feels right to her – or feel like justice. Wendy says she can’t pressure Chuck. She says he’s recused and Lara says right. Wendy says there’s a line between her job and her husband’s. Lara says she’s lucky in that case.

Wendy gets a piece of paper and writes out a referral to a therapist friend if Lara needs someone to talk to. Lara storms out. Axe goes into his panic room and finds Wags there. He says he gets no bars in there. He tells Bobby it’s a great place to jerk off when he’s not around.

Wags says Kemlot is a big deal then asks where’s Donnie? Axe says he doesn’t know and didn’t stash him. He says even Hall can’t find him. Wags asks what now and Bobby says he doesn’t know. Wendy talks to Chuck over dinner.

He gets a call that says they got a hit on Donnie’s easy pass on the Mass Pike. He says they’ll have him soon. Chuck tells her he has to go back to the office. He kisses her and goes. The troopers pull up around a car at the toll booth.

They surround the car and see it’s an old Asian guy. They call Bryan and says it’s Donnie’s easy pass but it’s not his car or the guy. We see Donnie swapping the easy pass when the old guy parked his car. Bryan is cursing like a sailor.

Chuck calls them clever motherf-kers. Bryan says he’s sorry he pulled Chuck in for nothing. Chuck goes to see Lonnie about a complaint he had against Wilcox who gave a very harsh sentence to a guy who really didn’t deserve it.

Chuck says go ahead and dig into Wilcox and see where it goes. He tells Chuck he may need some help. Chuck says he can have what he needs. They shake hands. Axe talks to Wags and Hall and wonders where Donnie is.

He says he could decide to walk into their offices and tell them everything. Hall says he has it on good authority they don’t have Donnie. Axe and Lara are at the fire station where her brother worked. He goes to talk to the firefighters gathered there.

They are all glaring. Bobby says he doesn’t blame them for hating him and says they lost more they can imagine including Lara’s brother. He says he met her in an aid tent that day. He says when he found out she lost a brother, he knew what he had done.

He says he wants them to know that when he started donating to the firefighter’s foundation, it wasn’t calculated, it was out of real admiration. Someone says it’s BS. Bobby says Paul talk to me and he says Bobby sounds like a politician.

Mike speaks up and Lara chastises him. Bobby says they’re entitled to his anger. He says he made the trades before he knew it was terrorism and before his whole firm died. He says he kept trading after the south tower fell and stepped on the gas.

He says does that sound like politics. Bobby says he’s not running and hiding and says he’s standing there telling them – he didn’t do it for himself. He says he knew his friends would be gone, their families would still be there and would be his responsibility.

He says he was cold-hearted and thought he had to be. He says he values his relationship with them and says they matter to him. He says even if he doesn’t matter to them, he wanted them to hear it from him. He says thanks for giving me the chance.

He takes Lara by the arm and they leave. The firefighters talk amongst themselves. Donnie is at a spiritual session. A guy tells him it’s beautiful. The man tells him that he has two minutes and he can’t touch the guy. Donnie goes back.

There are curtains and he goes through them. An older Asian man sits on the sofa. He calls Donnie by name. He tells the guy he’s lost and he says now you’re found. He puts a red dot on Donnie’s forehead and pulls him into a hug. Donnie closes his eyes and accepts it. The guy looks into his eyes.

Chuck gets a call in the morning and says Donnie used his credit card at a lodge. He says he was gone when they got there. Chuck looks up the lodge and sees there is a guru there. He tells Bryan he let himself be found and says he’s coming home.

Wendy hears Chuck talking and asks who and he says it’s just a fugitive case. She says she thought he was off the case and demands to know which it is. Chuck says call and ask Bryan. She walks away irritated. Donnie vomits into a trash can and then walks away.

Lara sees her farm was vandalized and most of the crops ruined by a large truck. She sees a pile of silver dollars. There are 30 of them. They’re calling him Judas. She looks up on the hill and sees Mike and another firefighter near an SUV.

The protestors are still outside as Wendy shows up to work. She gets a call from Donnie. He says he’s driving home and will be in the office tomorrow. He thanks her for talking to him and figuring out what’s important to him.

He says he went to Cleveland and saw Guru Ash. She knows that’s who Chuck was talking about.  Chuck comes home and finds the sitter there and his wife not. Bryan calls and says they caught Donnie and are hauling him in now.

The security guy tells Axe the bus broke down the protestors were leaving in and it’s about to rain. Axe calls limos to give them rides home. Lara finds Axe in their room later and says she was at the restaurant and made some decisions.

He asks if she closed it. She says she did and is selling the farm too. He asks why she didn’t tell him and he says they could have held on and not let go. He says they could have kept it open and says people forget, things change. He says they can fight.

Lara says this is her fighting. She says she’s getting rid of weaknesses so she can fight better. He says when things get bad, he shuts down and says he did it on 9/11 and did it here. She says he needs to find another way.

Donnie is with Bryan and Terri. Bryan chews him out and says you were jerking us around. Chuck listens. Donnie says he got him everything he asked for. Bryan says they don’t have the source because they got it in the blocked room.

He says it’s a guy high up at the FDA – Glenn Gilmartin or something like that. They check him on LinkedIn. He says Axe paid him off and then says he’s tired and Bryan says sit down. Donnie says he’s really sick. He says he’ll testify against Axe. He vomits blood on Bryan. They panic. Chuck watches in horror as they call 911 and work on Donnie.

THE END!
