Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire kicks off with Stella and Kelly in bed together – she jokes that they should both take a furlow and spend a week in bed together. Kelly’s cell phone goes off and it is back to reality. They both get dressed for work and head out to their cars. Stella finds a weird flyer on the window shield, it’s for an even that the Over Under. Someone wrote on the flyer, “Be there, you’re on the list.”

At the fire house, Jimmy’s brother Danny pays him a visit – he begs Jimmy to talk to Alderman Casey about getting a liquor license approved for the club that he is trying to open up. Every day he isn’t selling booze, he is losing money. Jimmy says he will see what he can do before he rushes off on a call.

The firefighters arrive on the scene of a car accident, the driver hit a pole and it fell on top of the car. They pry the door off the car and Dawson is shocked when she sees a little girl sitting in the driver’s seat. Her parents are in the back seat and they are wasted. Apparently they thought it was safer to have their 12 year old kid drive rather than drive drunk.

While they are loading her on to a stretcher, the little girl whose name is Kailey loses consciousness. Sylvie realizes that she has a broken rib and a punctured lung. Herman is furious, he shouts at her parents as they are being taken away by the police.

Otis stops by the fire house to pick up his last paycheck – they introduce him to his replacement, a new guy named Ferguson. Otis tries to tell everyone that his leave is only temporary, but no one seems to mind and they are all thrilled with the new guy on the team.

Dawson heads in to Boden’s office, she is moving forward with the foster parent process, she is determined to get the little boy she saved from the fire last week. She is trying to speed up the process, Boden agrees to write her a letter of recommendation. Next, she chats with her brother Antonio from Chicago PD and asks him to expedite the background check. Antonio agrees, but he is furious when he realizes that Dawson is doing all of this without Casey’s help.

Antonio storms in to Casey’s room and demands to know why his sister is going through this whole process by herself. Casey tries to explain that she made the call on her own, but Antonio doesn’t want to hear it. He shouts at Casey that he needs to stop stringing Dawson along – either be with her, and support her with the foster parent process, or leave her the hell alone.

Boden calls Casey in to his office, he tells him that he is writing Gabby’s letter of recommendation. But, he wants Casey to know that Gabby might be in over her head and the odds of her being approved by Child Services is slim. He hints that Casey should use his clout as the Alderman to help Dawson.

Jimmy finds out that his brother Danny has been selling liquor illegally at his club, and having underground parties. Danny stops by and asks if Jimmy talked to Casey yet. Jimmy tells him that there is no way he is dragging his lieutenant in to this, Danny is furious.

Stella’s ex Grant shows up at the fire house, he is acting erratic, and he brings her a corned beef sandwich. He tells her that he hasn’t slept in a few days, and he has been up working on his music. He has a gig at Danny’s underground bar and he wants Stella to come and watch him…she’s his muse. Kelly watches their chat from the other side of the fire house, and hes not impressed.

Dawson finally gets a meeting with the head of Child Services, Casey most likely pulled some strings for her. Dawson pours her heart out about wanting to foster Louie. After she is done, he tells her that she is too late, Louie was placed with a foster home earlier that morning. Dawson heads back to the fire house and she is devastated. A call comes in for a structure fire – everyone rushes off before she can tell Casey what happened at the meeting.

The office building is on fire, and the floors are all caving in, there was a construction accident. Casey and his team start searching for survivors and pulling people out of the wreckage. Dawson finds a woman hiding behind her desk she’s too scared to come out. Meanwhile, they are trying to lift a slab of concrete off another woman. Another man’s leg has been completely crushed, Kelly carries him outon his back.

Kelly tells Boden that the building is going to collapse any moment – the outside of the building begins crumbling. Boden radios everyone to get out of the building ASAP. There’s another explosion inside the building and more floors begin to cave in. Jimmy notices that everyone is out of the building but his brother Danny. He rushes inside the building despite everyone calling him to stop.

Jimmy finds his brother trapped under cement. He radios in to Boden for help getting him out. The squad starts to go inside, but Boden won’t let them. Meanwhile, Jimmy begs for help on the radio.

Kelly volunteers to go inside by himself. Finally, Boden runs inside the collapsing building and drags Jimmy out in the nick of time – leaving his brother Danny in there to die. There was no way they were going to be able rescue him before the building collapsed.

Once the building is done collapsing, they are able to recover Danny’s dead body – they all salute him while he is loaded up in to the ambulance. Jimmy helps carry the stretcher, and climbs in to the ambulance with his brother’s body.

Back at the fire house, Boden gives the team a speech about the dangers of the job – he says that sometimes “we are the ones that don’t make it home.” He reminds them all that is what they signed up for. Jimmy gets upset and storms out of the meeting. After everything is said and done, Boden heads in to his office and shuts the door and breaks down.

Casey and Kelly talk to Jimmy in the locker room, they tell him to take off all the time that he needs, his job is waiting for them. Jimmy is in a daze, Kelly takes him home and says that they will help him make arrangements in the morning.

Dawson gets an emergency phone call from the children’s shelter. The woman in charge says that Louis was brought back by his foster family, he was lashing out and biting the other kids. Dawson comforts Louie and puts him to bed. Afterwards, the woman in charge tells Dawson that there is still a chance she could get Louie, and she mentions that the alderman got her the meeting earlier. Dawson is shocked that Casey helped her after all.

Tonight’s episode ends with the whole gang at the bar. They are passing a boot around and raising money Danny’s family. Herman shocks everyone by announcing that the drinks are on the house.

Stella corners Kelly, she wants to talk about Grant. She reassures Kelly that they aren’t back together – he’s just using again, and Stella is worried about him. Dawson finds Casey and thanks him for getting her the meeting at Children Services.

Kelly heads home, there’s a knock on his door late at night, it’s Jimmy. He’s a hot mess – he shouts that his brother’s death was Boden’s fault…Boden told Danny he had one more minute in the building, and it got him killed. Kelly tries to talk some sense in to Jimmy, but he storms out in a fit of rage.

THE END!
