#DanceMoms starts back in LA after nationals. Jill says she didn’t talk to Abby a lot this summer. The moms catch up and Jill asks where Maddie is – Melissa says she’s making a movie in New York. She says it’s the director that did Jurassic World.

Jill sees this as an opportunity for the other girls to take Maddie’s place. Kendall wonders if Abby will come back after she stormed out at nationals. Melissa says she has legal guardianship of Kalani now since Kira is way pregnant and can’t travel.

Abby is there and says she’s disgusted about nationals and wants to go back to the beginning. She wants to put a focus on technique and pushing the girls more. Abby calls nationals a debacle and says they were humiliated on the stage.

She says the girls need to work harder and says she’s contradicting herself. She says no extra activities. Holly says that makes no sense because that was part of why they come to LA. Jill is upset too and then Jessa asks why Maddie isn’t there.

Abby says she’s shooting a movie and Jill asks why she’s being treated differently. Abby says Maddie is dancing in this. Jill says she and Kendall have been loyal. Holly says don’t do that and it’s not true. They start bickering. Kendall asks her to stop.

Kendall tells her mom to shush. Abby says she wants more. Kendall is upset that she can’t go do auditions but says her mom making a scene is worse. Abby decides to do pyramid differently. She calls Nia up with her headshot.

The girls all come up with their headshots in hand. She tells them they are all at the bottom of the pyramid since they lost nationals. Then she says it scares her that Maddie isn’t there but has a solution. Brynn and Ashlee come in.

Abby says Brynn stood out to her last year and wants her to stand in for Maddie and says she’s a consistent winner and if she wins for Abby can stay as long as she wants. Ashlee says Brynn will work her butt off to be her star dancer.

Jill says Abby loves to bring in shiny new toys and it’s a slap in the face to Kendall. Abby says they’re going to Sheer Talent in Glendale. She gives Brynn a solo called coronation. Kendall is annoyed that Brynn got a solo right off.

The group is from The Boy in the Plastic Bubble and says one of them will be in the bubble. Kalani says her dad is getting married this weekend and she can’t dance at the competition. Abby is annoyed.

Abby says they lost to their rivals at nationals. Holly says of course BDA is showing up and they have to redeem themselves. It’s three days to the competition. They start with group. Jill starts picking at Ashlee then and then asks if Brynn won last time.

Ashlee says Maddie won and Brynn came in second. Then Ashlee says Brynn did Dancing with the Stars. Then she says her daughter told her that Melissa said they were just backup dancers. Melissa says she won’t fight with her.

Ashlee says Maddie’s stardom has gone to Melissa’s head. Gianna pulls out the bubble and they put JoJo in it. Then the zipper is stuck and they can’t get her out. Abby starts to panic wondering if there’s enough air in there for her.

Jessa wonders if this is Abby’s plan to keep JoJo quiet. Jessa starts in on Abby not wanting the other girls to audition. Holly says she thinks Abby is keeping the other girls in a bubble by not letting them pursue what they want.

Kendall says Abby doesn’t own her and she’s not her product. Abby says when they are all off doing other projects, the other dancers they compete against are dancing only. Jill says she doesn’t want Kendall to just be a competition dancer.

Abby then tells Jill that Kendall needs to work harder and calls Kendall a hot mess. Kendall starts crying and says she’s done with all of this. She goes into the dressing room and hides and says she wants to leave. Jill says okay.

Over at BDA, Jeanette is smug that they are champs and beat ALDC. She introduces Gavin and Mackenzie, new team members. She says the Morales kids are both great dancers. She mentions that Gavin was on Ellen dancing so she gives him the solo.

Jeanette says she’s going to do The Waiting Room – the dance that ALDC did at nationals and lost – and use it to rub in ALDC’s face. Jill tells Kendall not to worry about her arguing with Abby and says that shouldn’t concern her.

She tells her to go back inside and be the Kendall everyone loves. Holly says she’s glad to see them back today. Maddie is on Skype from New York. She says she filmed three or four scenes then has to go back for 15 days.

Melissa says she misses Maddie but she wants to work. Abby sits down with Kendall and tells her that her mother screamed at her and says she thinks she doesn’t work hard enough. She tells Kendall to figure it out.

Jill is annoyed that Abby made her look like the bad guy. Jill says she missed out on opportunities all summer because of Abby and if Kendall gets a good opportunity, she’s going to take it, even if Abby is annoyed.

Holly asks for clarification on the point then nods. Abby works with Brynn on her solo. She says she won’t lose to Jeanette this week. Ashlee is pleased with the solo and Jill says Abby loves Brynn. They check out Jeanette’s Facebook to see who has the solo.

They see it’s Gavin and Ashlee says judges give boys more points (Abby calls them penis points) because they are so rare. Then Holly reads a nasty post from Jeanette about taking their concept for the group number and Holly says she’s declaring war on them.

Back at BDA, Jeanette is working the group and says Abby missed the mark on the Waiting Room dance because she has no empathy. Jeanette tells the dancers they are doing this to show Abby what it should be like.

Jeanette tells them about being in a waiting room when her sister died in a car accident – she tears up and tells them to take that and work with it. Back at ALDC, the bubble rehearsal goes on. Jill says BDA is doing a knock off of their nationals routine.

Holly says it’s a smack in the face. Jill really wants them to beat BDA so they can’t hold this over their heads. The moms worry about the big bubble prop and Holly calls it a giant hamster ball that can cause errors. Abby rants that this is horrible.

It’s competition day and the Dance Moms are greeted by a huge cheering crowd. Holly says this is nerve wracking since Maddie isn’t there, Brynn is new, and BDA is there as their rivals. Jeanette tells them they looked like sore losers at nationals.

Jessa says they look desperate for redoing their dance and calls it recycled. Jill is annoyed and says they’ve beat them every time before. Maddie is there to support them. Holly asks if she wants to do more film work and Maddie says yes.

She says the cast was amazing and says she’s sad that she’s not competing. She says she’s surprised she brought Brynn in but it makes sense since she’s been gone for weeks. Jeanette tells Gavin that he can do this and will send the girls to the curtains as his posse.

Abby talks to Brynn and says not to be intimidated. Ashlee wants her daughter to be the next Maddie but knows Gavin is a tough competitor. It’s time for Gavin’s solo. That kid is so flexible, especially for a boy. Ashlee tells Brynn to go show them she’s a competitor.

Abby says she thinks Brynn has a future at ALDC and says her lines are beautiful but wonders if she beat the boy. Jeanette preps the team for group and says it all has to be spot on technically. They chant “national champions” a whole bunch.

Jill says she hopes they beat BDA since they lost to them at nationals. Nia asks Abby what if the zipper gets stuck on the bubble and Abby says scream fire so people come running. Maddie says she wishes she was out there to help them.

Maddie gives them some last minute tips. The audience is stunned as the bubble is walked onto the stage. The get her unzipped and open it before JoJo runs out of air and she and the bubble collapse as planned at the end. The crowd loves it.

Kendall says it was amazing and she’s glad they didn’t have to scream fire for help. Next up is BDA. They run out with their chairs and set them out crookedly. Abby says they’re taking too long. The moms and Jeanette are going too slow.

The judge says it’s just two minutes and then says they’re going to be disqualified for holding it up. Holly thinks Abby is being petty. The judge disqualifies her and says read the rules and they have less than two minutes to get the stuff out.

The crowd chants “let them dance.” The competition owner lets them dance and Abby reminds him there should be points off. Jeanette is furious and says the hamster ball dance won’t beat them. Jeanette knows Abby did this to her by pointing it out.

Their number starts. It’s pretty good and Jeanette thinks her team did it perfectly and the way Abby should have done it. Now it’s awards time. Solos are first. Gavin takes second place and Brynn takes first.

Abby is thrilled and says Brynn proved she can fill Maddie’s shoes and says it won’t go unnoticed. The group awards start and second place goes to The Waiting Room. Jeanette is totally annoyed. ALDC takes first.

Kendall says beating BDA is payback and feels good. Abby congratulates them all and tells Kendall she likes her better smiling than crying and quitting and says no more of that. Abby doesn’t think she’s hard on Kendall.

She says she thinks Kendall can be a star. She tells Kendall she needs to grow her stamina and flexibility and says that goes for all of them. Abby says Maddie is a star because she focused on fixing what Abby told her was wrong.

Abby says Maddie is a global phenomenon and if the other girls figured that out, they would be famous too. Maddie says she’s leaving for New York for two more weeks tomorrow. Melissa says she loves all the kids and moms and things are changing.

Melissa says it’s hard for her to be there and Maddie not to be on stage. Abby says imagine sitting in a movie theater and seeing Maddie on screen when Melissa says he misses her. Abby is teared up and says she feels like there are shackles on her.

Jill is stunned and thinks Abby lost it. She says when you make mistakes you pay the consequences. Is this about her bankruptcy indictment? She doesn’t mention it but it’s strange that she’s talking about doing something wrong and paying for it.

THE END!
