Days of Our Lives (DOOL) Spoilers: Co-Head Writer Dena Higley Out for Good or Returning - DOOL Writing Team Limbo?

“Days of Our Lives” spoilers reveal that we could soon see a shift in some storylines on the NBC soap. Back in August, Dena Higley took a leave of absence from her position as co-head writer for personal reasons. Due to DOOL’s taping schedule, we should start seeing onscreen material without Higley at the helm by February.

Of course, Josh Griffith has still been writing at “Days” and it appears they tapped someone from the writing team at “The Young and the Restless” to join him. Though it hasn’t been officially confirmed, Y&R’s Beth Milstein reportedly began helping out Griffith shortly after the Higley announcement.

Milstein has written for DOOL several times in the past and most fans approve of her work. If Milstein has indeed stepped in, the show is undoubtedly in good hands. Nevertheless, we have to wonder what the future holds for “Days of Our Lives.”

There’s been no word about Higley’s return and her Twitter bio has been undergoing a makeover. It recently switched to “past head writer,” but it switched again to “Emmy Award-Winning Head Writer for ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘One Life to Live.’” Since that’s referring to Higley’s previous stints on those shows, we just don’t know where things might stand now.

It’s possible that Higley could step back in at some point. However, it’s also possible that Milstein could decide to stick around. If not, someone else might come on board to take over Higley’s slot. As for DOOL’s material, we might notice subtle changes as we head into the storylines without Higley’s touch.

Many viewers have been suggesting that storylines like Andre (Thaao Penghlis) brainwashing Chad (Billy Flynn) or brain-dead Daniel (Shawn Christian) providing Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) heart seemed right up Higley’s alley. Once the last of Higley’s material airs, we could see a few minor adjustments in the tone of the show.

Is Higley out for good? It looks like we’ll just have to keep watching and waiting for confirmation. We’ll give you updates if we hear any news about Higley’s status or any other changes that might be in the works. Stay tuned to “Days of Our Lives” to see if you notice any shifts in the stories moving forward.

So “Days” fans, what do you think is going on with DOOL’s writing team? Will Higley remain out of the picture? Do you suspect that Higley will be formally replaced if she doesn’t come back soon?
