Days of Our Lives (DOOL) Spoilers: Fynn Out, Alexander Bruszt Fired - Casting Call for Dr. Caleb Cooper

“Days of Our Lives” spoilers tease that DOOL is ditching one doctor, but a new one will be joining the cast soon. According to Soap Opera Digest, Alexander Bruszt is fired and has taped his final scenes as Fynn. There’s no official news on Bruszt’s last air date, but most buzz suggests Fynn will depart around late July or early August.

Many DOOL viewers have been expecting this announcement. Bruszt is a solid actor, but the show never really found the right place for Fynn. They tried going the ladies’ man route, but fans didn’t seem interested. Then, Fynn ended up in a hopeless pairing with Kayla (Mary Beth Evans).

We all know Kayla only has eyes for Steve (Stephen Nichols), so her romance with Fynn has already fizzled.

Since Fynn isn’t adding much to “Days” at the moment, he’s making his exit. Still, Bruszt fared pretty well for a guy who was only supposed to air for 13 weeks. You might remember that Bruszt snagged this role as part of an Australian talent competition.

They kept Bruszt around for 26 more weeks than they originally planned, but he’s finally bowing out.

However, it appears “Days of Our Lives” has plans to trade Fynn for a new doctor. SOD is also reporting that a casting call just went out for Dr. Caleb Cooper. They’re hoping to find a “strong, established actor” who’s in the 45-55 age range.

Caleb is attractive and a bit of a loner. He lives on a farm away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Interestingly, Caleb tries to downplay his medical background. There’s a traumatic incident in his past that he’s running from. Perhaps Caleb made a mistake with a patient or couldn’t save someone important to him.

Of course, it won’t be long until Caleb makes his way to Salem and opens up to someone. There aren’t many good options for Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) around town, so maybe Caleb could be her new love interest. No one can ever replace Jack (Matthew Ashford), but there’s no reason Jen should stay single.

Regardless, Caleb sounds like an intriguing character. This is a contract role, so we should be seeing a lot of Caleb when the time comes. Once they choose an actor, he’ll begin taping this August. Depending on how the taping schedule goes over the next few months, that should put Caleb on screen around January or February.

Stick with “Days of Our Lives” for updates on Fynn’s exit and Caleb’s arrival.

So “Days” fans, what do you think about the doctor shakeup? Will you miss Fynn or did the character leave a bit to be desired? Does Dr. Caleb Cooper interest you? Could he be Jennifer’s next beau?
