Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that more drama is on the way in the coming year. As Days kicks off 2017’s stories, let’s look back at 2016’s best performances. There were several actors that impressed us time and time again. Check out our list of favorites and vote in our DOOL poll.
First, we have Billy Flynn (Chad). Flynn always gives Chad a sweet quality that makes us root for him. He did an awesome job in his scenes with Kate Mansi (ex-Abigail) this year. Flynn conveyed Chad’s deep love for Abigail throughout their troubled romance. He also showed us Chad’s pain as he watched Abigail slip away.
Chad only wanted what was best for Abigail. Flynn plays Chad’s protective side quite well. Of course, Flynn is currently proving that he’s got the acting chops to play off just about anyone. His chemistry with Mansi was extraordinary, but he shows us the sizzle with Camila Banus (Gabi) and Marci Miller (new Abigail), too.
Next, let’s talk about Greg Vaughan’s (Eric) performance. Eric was racked with guilt after he accidentally killed Daniel (Shawn Christian). Vaughan really brought his A game with some highly emotional scenes. When Nicole (Arianne Zucker) spewed words of hatred at Eric, his reaction was certainly powerful.
Eric continued to struggle with alcohol and that led to some challenging moments. Vaughan let us see a truly broken man. It was difficult to watch Eric take that ride to prison for many reasons. The main one is that we hated to lose Greg Vaughan! Fortunately, Eric’s release is imminent and that means we’ll be seeing a lot of Vaughan in 2017.
We should also recognize Eric Martsolf’s (Brady) work in 2016. Although the Summer (Marie Wilson) storyline was unpopular, Martsolf still had some nice scenes in it. He made Brady’s dramatic ocean rescue exciting.
Martsolf did some stellar stuff after Tate’s kidnapping and during Theresa’s (Jen Lilley) exit. Brady had a pretty rough year, but Martsolf definitely had a good one at Days. Finally, we need to give a shout-out to Stephen Nichols (Steve). He was another outstanding performer over the last 12 months.
Steve is a hero who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. However, everything Steve does comes from a place of love. Nichols perfectly captures Steve’s big heart. His chemistry with Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) is tough to beat. Most Days of Our Lives fans enjoy rooting for Steve and Kayla.
Nichols had some action-packed moments throughout the “trio of terror” storyline. DOOL viewers watched Steve go up against Orpheus (George DelHoyo) in an effort to save his family. Nichols always knows how to make us feel a great sense of adventure.
