“General Hospital” (GH) spoilers tease that, although they don’t know it, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) are both investigating the escalating mob issues in Port Charles – but from different angles. If Sonny isn’t careful, he could wind up behind bars too.
Even though Sonny is focusing on Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) gun running activities, we know that the Corinthos cartel is still active in town doing what they do – gambling, money laundering etc. That means he’s still operating outside the law.
Sonny also has no clue that Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) is the one who’s running Ava and is her boss. Paul is actively pushing PCPD resources towards investigating Sonny even though the Jeromes are the larger problem right now.
Anna, meanwhile is pursuing Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) and thinks that will lead her back to Julian Jerome (William deVry). Julian seems to be legit and out of the Jerome cartel, though, so all Anna can nail him for – once she catches Carlos – is ordering Duke Lavery’s (Ian Buchanan) death.
But Carlos has much more information to bargain with if Anna catches him – he can spill all the dirt on Paul’s mob dealings. Anna knows that Paul is somehow tied up in Sloane’s death and body swap, but she still doesn’t have the whole picture.
Sonny also is dealing with imperfect information. Paul knows more than both of them – but what he’s unaware of is that Sonny is investigating Ava. Sonny sending out his minions to monitor Ava’s activities puts them in the same location as some of these crimes – so they could be linked to them.
Paul is in a panic right now and knows Anna is hot on Carlos’ tail. He ordered him out of Port Charles and Carlos went but then profiler Dr Andre Maddox (Anthony Montgomery) accurately plotted where Carlos would take Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo).
Paul is trying to get Carlos to flee Canada but he can’t because of Sabrina’s labor and the birth of their child. GH spoilers indicate that Carlos may be nabbed by Anna because he chose to be with Sabrina and their baby.
Carlos is the key to all of this – and if Anna could get him, she could use his testimony to nail Ava, Julian, Paul – and maybe even Sonny. Carlos is a treasure trove of information about Port Charles cartel crime. But since Paul knows that Anna may yet get her hands on Carlos, is he covering his bases?
Is Paul laying the groundwork for Sonny to take the fall for Ava’s crimes – and his? Paul has been working on this for a long time and may have enough trumped up evidence to implicate Sonny. When Anna finally gets to the end of the thread she’s following, who will she find there?
Will it be Sonny because of the misinformation Paul has set up? Will it lead her to Julian since Paul, at one point, was setting him up to take the fall for Sonny’s shooting? Or will she be able to look past the bad evidence Paul set up so she figures out Paul has been masterminding all of this?
