‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Not Guilty of Car Bomb - Paul's Final Act of Vengeance

New General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will be cleared of suspicion in the car bombing that “killed” Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) and the real culprit is a stunner. Was the car bomb Paul Hornsby’s (Richard Burgi) final act of vengeance and justice?

Remember that Paul told Jordan Ashford (Vinessa Antoine) to “ask Ava Jerome” (Maura West) about what happened to Julian Jerome’s (William deVry) trial as he was being carted off to Pentonville. Paul didn’t like letting Julian off the hook for killing Duke and Carlos and trying to kill Alexis Davis (Nancy Grahn).

Plus, remember that Paul promised Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) that he would nail Julian to get justice for Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan). Paul thinks he’s in love with Anna and would not want to let her down even if he’s spending the rest of his life behind bars.

Paul had to cave to Ava’s blackmail in order for him to finish getting his sick version of justice for daughter Susan Hornsby. He almost finished his list of victims, except for Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) whom he couldn’t take out.

He likes to follow through with things and would see it as a fitting task to take Julian out to make up for the acquittal in court that was due to the blackmail. Obviously, Morgan was not the target of the bomb. No one could have known that Morgan would steal Julian’s car.

And it seems clear that Sonny’s hit man was not the one who rigged Julian’s car to blow for two reasons. Sonny called off the hit and the message seemed to go through. But also, given Sonny’s horrible history with car bombs – Lily, Brenda, etc. – no one working for him would pick a bomb for a hit.

Sonny specifically told his guy to make sure it looked like an accident. Bombs are not accidents – no way, no how. Paul was in jail when the bomb was planted, but he would have hired a hit man, not done it himself anyway.

Paul has criminal contacts and piles of cash, so he had the means, motive, and opportunity to have it done. There’s one overwhelming reason that Paul is likely the bomber – it’s the killing two birds with one stone explanation.

By planting a bomb in Julian’s car, Paul could get Julian killed and ensure the blame fell on Sonny as his arch enemy. That means dead Julian and Sonny behind bars. Paul would consider that a win-win since he’s been trying to take down both Sonny and Julian for months.

Also, by making Paul the bomber, no major cast characters have to go to jail. Aside from Paul, the choice is that it’s a regular character fans don’t want to lose – or some random minor player that no one would care about. Paul is a much better choice.
