General Hospital Spoilers: Tyler Christopher Speaks on Twitter - Returning to GH as Nikolas Cassadine Later This Year

General Hospital spoilers are relieved to announce that Tyler Christopher has said he is returning to GH later this year in his role of Nikolas Cassadine. The announcement came straight from the “horse’s mouth.” Tyler Christopher revealed the news to fans at this year’s General Hospital Fan Club Weekend.

Tyler was the actor who originated the General Hospital role of Nikolas Cassadine back in 1996 and this year was the first time he won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series!!

Tyler was last seen on the air in June, when he was trying to escape the country after faking his own death. The facts surrounding his exit was never fully explained although we did receive two varying reasons.

The first one was that he left the show because he and the show were involved in some intense negotiations regarding his contract. A second report tells us that the actor had left for “personal reasons”. Whatever the reasons for him temporarily vacating the role, the powers that be at General Hospital wasted no time finding a short-term replacement.

Nick Stabile stepped in, without missing a beat. GH fans would have recognized Nick Stabile from a few different soapy roles he had played: Mark Wolper (Sunset Beach), Dean Hartman (Days of Our Lives), and was the temporary replacement for Justin Hartley’s (Adam, Y&R) character Nicholas Foxworth “Fox” Crane (Passions).

Nick’s short stint as the “Cassadine Prince” ended on July 19, when his character, Nikolas attacked his deranged Uncle Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) when he attempted to shoot Nikolas’ lady friend, Ava Jerome (Maura West). We do not know for sure if Nikolas was shot, but we do know that he had taken a tumble down into the darkness below.

With the return of fan favorite, Tyler Christopher, we can safely assume that Nikolas is going to pop up at some point. We have been told that he will be returning in September to General Hospital, but it is not clear if that is when he will be reporting back to work to film, or if that is when he will be back on our TV screens. An ABC rep was not available for to confirm or deny any of this.
