New General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that we may not have seen the last of Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) in Port Charles. Could a recent Twitter “war” between Vanessa and Sonny Corinthos portrayer Maurice Benard be hinting that more is in store for these two?
Sure Sonny and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) seem rock solid right now but if anything could break them up, it’s the return of Brenda, the one that got away. There’s already trouble in store for Carly and Sonny with Nelle Hayes (Chloe Lanier) so Brenda coming back would ice the cake.
There is a lot left to explore with Sonny and Brenda considering how bittersweet it was when they last parted ways. And we know that Carly totally hates Brenda. Plus, since the Nelle story is deeply tied to Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) and Jax is tied to Brenda, it would be a great time to bring her back.
Long-time watchers know that there’s no way that GH showrunners will let Carly and Sonny live happily ever after – misfortune will come their way – including an inevitable split. Are Vanessa and Maurice hinting at a return of Brenda with their recent Twitter antics?
Vanessa tweeted about Maurice “Poor guy…..So in love with Me. I mean Brenda…..” Then Maurice tweeted a video of him doing a Godfather Don Corleone impression saying he was “done with her.” There has been a lot of back and forth activity between them recently.
Also, Vanessa’s other show Queens of Drama, her Pop TV series with other soap legends including Donna Mills and Hunter Tylo, was recently canceled, so we know she now has the time to do a story arc on GH.
It would be a thrill to have Brenda back since she’s the only one who could break up CarSon. It’s hard to imagine anyone catching Sonny’s eye aside from Brenda. There was also talk a couple of months ago when Maurice was tweeting about a child Brenda had.
That sparked some General Hospital spoilers and chatter that Aaron Roland (John DeLuca) might be Brenda’s son with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) born back when he was her bodyguard in New York City before Dante knew about Sonny and came to Port Charles.
While Marcil did comment at the time that Brenda would never knowingly abandon a child, who’s to say he wasn’t raised in secret since she’s mostly been off-screen. We know Brenda could never accept Sonny’s mob lifestyle and would not have wanted a child raised in it.
Anytime Vanessa Marcil and Maurice Benard hint that Brenda could return, GH fans go wild with anticipation and this time is no exception. There is so much story left untold with Sonny and Brenda and a lot of unfulfilled love and opportunities lost.
