General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that although Julian Jerome portrayer William deVry looks to be in a tough spot on the ABC soap, in real life, his career is thriving as deVry has landed a new job hosting Best Bottle, a reality show that chronicles a wine competition.
The show started filming in early July, according to the show’s Twitter feed, and the reality program has a mission to “find the next rock-star winemaker.” However, General Hospital spoilers indicate that deVry’s part of the filming won’t kick off until late July, which gives him lots of time on the ABC soap.
The show calls its contestants “Cellar Rats” and William deVry will host Season 1 as aspiring vintners from Oregon face off against winemakers from California. The reality show promises the contestants will face off in a “brutal quest to capture the Golden Grapes Trophy, $100,000 prize, new car, and a lucrative wine-making deal.”
Season 1 will feature 10 contestants competing to make the “best bottle.” William deVry will host and there will be other celebrity wine-lovers cohosting alongside deVry. We do have to wonder whether deVry will tap fellow GH star Laura Wright for an appearance since she and her soon-to-be-ex-husband own Standing Sun Winery in Santa Ynez, California.
General Hospital spoilers tease that although deVry’s character Julian Jerome has been stabbed in the back by wife Alexis Davis (Nany Grahn), arrested, and is hospitalized at GH, you should not count the mobster out.
For GH fans that worry that deVry’s hosting gig on the wine competition, plus his character’s arrest, might mean that he’s on the way out the door, worry not! Reps from Best Bottle posted on their Facebook page, “Will deVry is still on GH. He is working his schedule to be the host of Best Bottle while still working and starring in General Hospital.”
This seems like an interesting overlap for William deVry since his character Julian and his Port Charles’ wife Alexis, spend an inordinate amount of time guzzling wine as part of their storyline. DeVry also comes with a built-in fan base in the right demographic for a wine show.
The reality show reportedly wanted someone in their 40s with a fan base and social media following and William deVry certainly fits the bill. What do you think GH fans? Will you tune in to watch William deVry host Best Bottle?
