Grimm returns to NBC tonight with a brand new Friday May 20, two hour special season 5 finale called “Beginning of the End, Parts One and Two,” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, in the Season 5 finale, Black Claw makes a strategic move against Hank (Russell Hornsby) that shocks everyone and sends Nick on a war path.

On tonight’s episode as per the NBC synopsis, “in the Season 5 finale, Black Claw makes a strategic move against Hank that shocks everyone and sends Nick on a war path; Hadrian’s Wall search for a mystery man named Bonaparte; Adalind and Capt. Renard try to come to terms with their new—and very unpredictable—reality.”

#Grimm starts with Monroe and Rosalee watching the news about Renard’s mayoral win. They are stunned by Adalind’s betrayal and wonder how Nick is doing. Nick is at HW with Trubel and Meisner and they talk about what’s next with Black Claw. Hank is there too.
Hank says Zuri wasn’t trying to recruit him and Meisner says they’re trying to take down people around the Grimm. Eve comes in and says she got all she could from Zuri and says they recruited her almost six months ago to go after Hank and she’s sorry but Eve doesn’t believe her.
Eve says she gave up the name Bonaparte. Meisner says he’s a Black Claw founder and that means he’s running things. Eve says Zuri is being taken to a secure site. Hank gets a call with an address and says that’s his house that 911 got a call about.
Monroe looks outside and spots the same truck out front. He’s angry and says he’s going to confront them. He says he won’t live like this and Rosalee follows him out begging him not to do this. Monroe confronts them and the truck finally drives away.
Monroe says this is their home and they can’t let these idiots rule their lives. Rosalee says getting killed won’t help. Rosalee has a dizzy spell and he says she feels warm. She got the license plate number and says to call Trubel.
Adalind and the kids are back at the house and Rachel offers to help but Adalind ignores her. Diana stares overlong at Rachel. Conrad congratulates Renard for the win. Conrad says this is the first step and says he needs to make his new life with Adalind work.
Conrad says he’ll talk to her. Adalind and Renard tuck Diana into bed and she says goodnight to them. She gets out of bed and gets two dolls and looks at them. Adalind asks Renard how this feels and says he’s standing on a dead guy’s shoulder.
Diana is using the dolls to enchant her parents. Adalind turns back to Renard and they kiss each other. They grope one another and we see Diana’s eyes glowing. They go into the bedroom and undress each other. Then Adalind stops and woges. She hits him and says don’t you see.
Adalind calls him a moron and says their daughter is doing this. She says do you think I just decided you were hot and I wanted you. Renard says you’re going to be here so get used to it. Diana watches her father storm down the stairs.
Hank and Nick show up and the beat cop says investigators are inside. Inside, there’s overturned furniture and two dead bodies. Nick recognizes them – he says they’re Black Claw and says they followed him last night and he killed them. He says someone is setting Hank up.
Masters and Baribeau and says a witness reported a gunshot and yelling and described him running out of the house at 10 pm. Mrs Miller from across the street ID’d him. They tell him to hand over his badge and gun. He does.
Nick tells Baribeau that the bodies were dumped here and he tells him he has to leave. Masters loads Hank into the back of her cop car and heads out. Nick calls Wu and tells him there’s a problem and to meet him at the precinct.
Meisner, Trubel and Eve talk about Conrad and how they know little about him. Trubel brings in the laptop of the guy that Nick took and they see the photos have been distributed around. Monroe calls Trubel with the license plate. He says he ran them off.
Eve pulls it up and says it’s Emilio Quintana. Trubel says they need to go see these people. Adalind goes to talk to Diana who is not asleep. Adalind finds the dolls and says maybe this is why you’re still awake. Diana asks why her parents don’t like each other.
Adalind says you can’t push people together and Diana says she doesn’t like Rachel then says she likes daddy. Adalind says don’t worry about it and tells her to get some sleep. Diana asks her to stay and Adalind agrees. She lies down with her.
Nick tells Wu about the body dump at Hank’s place and says he’s the one who killed them and then they look up the witness Ms Miller. She’s lived there 30 years. They wonder if she’s Black Claw and go talk to her. Hank is not taken to the police station and looks like the two cops are Wesen. They attack him.
They drag Hank into a house to interrogate him. Masters calls and says – we’ve got him. Wu and Nick go to the neighbor’s house and see that her car is in the driveway. Nick says she lies so she’s not innocent either way. Wu goes around back and Nick knocks at the front.
Wu radios and says the back door is open. They head inside and see signs of a disturbance. There’s also drops of blood and a broken glass. Wu says Ms Miller is gone. Nick says let’s check out the 911 call because, without the witness, they can’t hold him.
Renard is at Rachel’s place in her bed and she says he can’t stay the night and says she’ll miss this. He says it doesn’t have to stop and she says we do. She says Adalind needs to know how important family values are to the cause. She tells Renard to get out.
Next day, Nick goes to the other precinct looking for Hank and asks for Masters and Baribeau. The cops tell Nick that he must be very frustrated. The cop woges and says you’re in the wrong place – no one here is going to help you. The whole PD is full of Wesen.
They tell him there’s a new mayor and things are changing. He walks out angry. Baribeau paces and wants to know why “he” isn’t here yet. Masters wants him to be patient. Baribeau tells Hank he’s going to die because Nick killed two of them.
Baribeau paces and Masters says call him if you’re worried. He says something isn’t right. Hank just stares. Conrad talks to Adalind and says she knows she’s not in love with Renard. She says she’s doing the best she can and he says she’s not.
He says think about the children and Adalind says she is and that’s why she’s here. She says Renard is not her type and that won’t change. Conrad takes her hands and says she should know something. He says he’s not like Sean Renard.
He woges and freaks her out. He says they need to understand each other on a deeper level. Their hands become physically bonded. He says she should like what she is and he forces a change in her. She turns gray and looks like she’s stone. He asks if this is what she wants the kids to see.
Conrad lets go her hands and she’s back to normal. She says that hurts and Conrad holds out a ring for her to wear. He magics it onto her finger and says she’s a princess and Renard will be her prince. He says don’t take that ring off or it will be painful to your children.
Adalind says the ring is nice and thanks him for it. Wu says the 911 call doesn’t exist. He says there were no crimes reported at all. Nick says the detectives are Black Claw and the whole other precinct is Wesen and they knew he’s a Grimm.
Nick says see if they booked him and there’s nothing in the system. Wu says this is not good. Nick says they didn’t even take him in and they wonder how to find him. They talk to Tony Talamonit who’s Black Claw and Nick wonders how they can scare him.
Nick goes to see Monroe and Rosalee and locks the door of the spice shop. He tells them Black Claw has Nick and Tony might know where he is. Monroe says he can get out of him. Nick says he has to believe he’ll kill him but he can’t actually kill him.
He asks Rosalee to go in first and ID Tony as the guy who made trouble at the shop. Nick and Wu bring Tony into interrogation. Nick says two detectives took his partner and asks where they took him. He says he doesn’t know and they ask about his hand.
They ask if he tripped over a hexenbiest. He won’t tell them where Hank is. They bring in Rosalee and Nick asks if that’s the guy who hit you. Rosalee says tell them where Hank is and he smirks at her and she lunges at him. Nick says they can add assault to the charges.
He doesn’t care but Nick says not your assault then asks if he’s met Rosalee’s husband. Monroe pulls off his jacket and woges and then Tony freaks out and tries to hide. The others leave him alone with Tony and they hear screams and thumps and thuds.
Monroe opens the door and gives them the address. Monroe says thank you and takes Rosalee and leaves. Tony is in a heap at the door. Nick says he’s got to call HW. Renard shows up then and gets lots of applause. Renard smiles and Nick glares.
Wu says he’s a son of a bitch and Nick asks him to keep an eye on Renard and call if he leaves.
HW confirms for Nick that the house is HW. Trubel, Eve and Nick roll out to go try and save Hank. Meisner stays behind. Hank is still tied up and asks what they hope to accomplish. Masters says he works with a Grimm. She says he’s not Wesen and doesn’t understand.
Hank says she doesn’t either. Baribeau punches him and Masters tell the guy to back down. The HW crew shows up and parks. They creep up to the house. Is this a trap? They spot the house and sneak up on it. Baribeau says he doesn’t think Bonaparte is coming.
Masters says Nick is one of them and will switch sides. Nick is there and attacks. Trubel cuts Master’s neck and Baribeau woges and tries to come at Hank but Eve takes him down from outside. Hank grabs his stuff and Trubel points out a body in the tub – it’s Mrs Miller, his neighbor.
Eve says three sources gave them the address and Hank says they were waiting on someone. Eve says we’re in the wrong place. There’s an attack at HW going on at that moment. Meisner fights off as many as he can. HW is a wreck – all the equipment was destroyed.
He checks on his people and sees they’re dead. Renard is there and then Meisner’s phone rings. Eve calls and asks if it’s too late. He says Renard is here and wants to kill me. He tells them not to come back. Meisner tells Renard he chose the wrong side.
Renard says he never chooses sides and he shouldn’t either. Conrad is there and woges and Renard tells him to stop. Conrad says stay out of it. Renard watches and then blood comes out of Meisner’s eyes. Renard again tells the guy to stop. He doesn’t.
Renard shoots Meisner to end it. Conrad woges back and says he’s compassionate and that’s dangerous for all of them. Renard glares.
Diana hears Conrad and Rachel talking and he says he’s concerned about Adalind but Rachel says she’ll come around. He says Rachel needs to spend time with Diana and get closer. Rachel says kids love me. Diana looks evil.
Hank, Nick, Eve and Trubel come back to HW. They wonder how Black Claw knew and Eve says it was Zuri. Nick says they’re scared of Eve and wanted her out of the way. Eve is angry she didn’t see this coming. They find Meisner and Trubel goes to him.
She’s crying and says she thought Meisner and Renard were friends. Eve says Renard has no friends. Trubel tells Nick that HW is dead in Portland and they’re all that’s left to fight. He says get what you need and come back to my place but make sure you’re not followed.
Trubel is crying and furious. Rachel gets into bed at her place and clicks off the light. Diana sits alone in her room. Rachel sits up and Diana is at the end of her bed. Diana says leave us alone and then starts to choke her with her bedsheets. She winds them around her body.
Rachel screams for help. Diana comes to Adalind and says she has something to show her. She shows her Rachel being muffled in her sheets and screaming. Adalind says to stop it. Diana says she won’t take Daddy away anymore. Adalind wakes from a nightmare. Diana’s eyes are glowing.
Renard is at the PD and Nick and Hank show up. Hank asks if Nick is going to do something stupid. Wu asks what happened and Nick storms into his office. He says Meisner is dead and Renard asks how. Nick says a coward shot him.
Renard says do you want to count the dead and Nick says yeah then clicks the lock. He attacks Renard. Wu and Hank check the door when they hear the noise. Renard fights back hard. Renard snaps and woges then throws Nick through a window.
Hank and Wu have to hold him back and others hold back Nick. He tells the other cops to arrest Nick and Hank has to hold Wu back and says we can’t help him if we’re arrested too. Wu says they’ll kill him. Nick is shoved into a holding cell. Nick sees a Black Claw mark on the wall.
Hank and Wu come check on him and they ask why he went after him and Nick tells Wu that Renard killed Meisner. He tells them to get everyone safely to his place for now. Renard sends cleaning people out of his office and makes a call to Conrad.
He says he had Nick arrested for assaulting him. He was upset about Meisner’s death. Conrad says he’d like to talk to Nick and says take the night off and I’ll handle it. Conrad tells two of the Wesen cops and tells them to get Nick transferred. They tell him a couple of hours.
Renard approaches Hank and Wu and says Nick brought them on himself and says he had no choice. Renard says there are going to be big changes and he hopes they can work through our differences. He walks out. Hank tells Wu to call if anyone comes near Nick.
Monroe is worried about Rosalee’s illness and brings her some tea. He tries to call Nick but doesn’t get him. Rosalee took a home pregnancy test and it shows she’s pregnant. It seems to be a bittersweet realization. Monroe gets Nick’s voice mail.
Monroe spots the same truck and she tells him not tonight but they hear someone breaking into their house. He woges and goes to see. It’s Trubel. She says Black Claw is out front and says there was an attack on HW and everyone even Meisner is dead.
Trubel says they’re not safe and they have to get to Nick’s. He asks about the Black Claw guys out front and Trubel says they’ve got it covered. Eve is out front and woges. The guys try to start the truck but it won’t’ then it gets hot. They both woge and she traps them inside. They burn up. It’s a mess.
Renard goes to see Rachel and asks her to wake up so he can talk to her. She doesn’t respond and he sees she’s dead. He’s horrified. Hank tells the others that Nick attacked Renard at the police station. Eve says Nick won’t last the night and Trubel says they have to get him out.
They tell Rosalee and Monroe to go to the spice shop and hide what they can. They agree to hide the stuff in the old sewer line while Eve and Hank go to get Nick out. Rosalee and Monroe take off to hide the artifacts they don’t want Black Claw to have.
Adalind looks at the ring on her finger. Renard comes to Conrad and says Rachel is dead and Conrad asks who did it. He asks where’s Adalind and Conrad says she didn’t know or care about him sleeping with Rachel. Conrad says it wasn’t him.
He pauses then says maybe Diana is more capable than they thought. He says if she perceived Rachel as a threat… Renard says she didn’t leave the house and Conrad says she may not need to. Monroe and Rosalee are hiding the books.
Monroe says they can’t let them get their hands on the Grimm genealogy book. Rosalee asks Monroe what will the world be like of Black Claw succeeds. He says they won’t if he’s still alive. They pack things up and worry about Nick.
At the PD, there are 911 calls streaming in and Wu sends the other cops out. Wu gets the precinct cleared out. Nick’s phone rings and it’s Adalind. Wu says Nick was arrested after he attacked Renard for killing Meisner. Adalind says to tell Nick I love him and Kelly is fine.
She hangs up abruptly when Renard comes into the room. Adalind asks what happened to Renard’s face and he says Rachel is dead. Renard says he thinks Diana killed Rachel and Adalind says it’s his fault. He asks about the ring and says Conrad is planning a wedding.
Renard says he’s going to stay in her room tonight since all this is going on. The Wesen cops come to transfer Nick and they tell him don’t make this any harder. They sent a lot of cops to take him. They cuff him. They walk him out and one phones Conrad to tell him they’re on the way.
Wu stops them and says Renard called and wants him in interrogation. They rough Wu up then woge and he woges back and attacks them. Hank shows up then and finds that Wu ate a couple. Hank calms him down and then Eve and Trubel are there.
Wu says they took Nick and the precinct is all Black Claw. Eve says let’s go and brings Wu along. Sure enough, they take Nick to the North Precinct. The Wesen cops all talk smack to Nick when he’s brought in. A room of them woge and threaten him. They tell him he’s dead.
They sit him down in a chair and surround him. Conrad is there and tells them to calm down. Conrad thanks him for coming and Nick asks what he wants. Conrad says freedom to be who we are but he wouldn’t understand. Nick asks if he’s going to complain how unfair life is.
Conrad says Nick has a book that he wants. He says they tracked it to a book dealer then here to Portland and the book dealer is related to a friend of his, the Blutbaden. He says he thinks Nick has that book and will give it to him. Nick glares.
Nick says all this for a book and Conrad says it documents every Grimm and says some will join their revolution and they need to know who they are. Conrad uses his magic on Nick who screams in pain. He sits up in bed next to Adalind and she asks what time it is.
He says he had a bad dream and she says go back to sleep. He asks where’s Kelly and Adalind says asleep in the crib. Nick sees a version of himself and kills it. He screams and he’s back in the room with Conrad who says it will stop if you give me the book.
Eve walks into the precinct and asks for Nick. The desk cop lies and says he’s not there. Eve makes them aim guns at each other and they tell Eve that he’s upstairs. Conrad offers to swap the book for Kelly. The gang moves in – Trubel and Hank attack.
Conrad makes a break for it. Eve moves in and goes after him. They face off. He says she msut be Eve and he woges. She does too. They fight with magic, brawling and throwing things at each other. Then it turns to hand to hand brawling.
Nick is loose and asks where’s Eve. He stabs her in the gut with glass. Nick runs in with the others and Conrad runs out. Eve says she didn’t know he was a Zauberbiest. They talk about how they have to get Eve help and protect Monroe and Rosalee.
Adalind wakes in pain and says something si wrong with Eve. Adalind says she thinks Eve is dying. Renad asks how she knows and she says she can feel it. They hear a car and Renard says it’s Conrad. They come down and Conrad demands she tell him where Nick lives.
He chokes her with magic. Renard says tell them. Renard tells him to stop. She gives an address and he lets her go. Conrad says they all die tonight. Rosalee and Monroe are hiding the last stuff and he wonders if they should hide the chest.
They hear someone up in the shop and sounds of melee. They creep up the stairs then the door opens and woged Wesen tumbles down the stairs. Trubel calls out and says time to go. Nick goes to the tunnel to and tells Hank to keep pressure on Eve’s wound.
Nick grabs the cloth wrapped stick and runs back up the ladder. Adalind wakes up Diana and says she needs her help. She says please help get a message to Nick, Kelly’s daddy. Diana asks if he’s in trouble and she says yes but it has to be a secret.
Diana agrees. Hank says they’re losing Eve. Nick and Hank hope it works. He touches it to her and they wonder if they were crazy. Nick says something is happening. It’s working and Hank wonders how. Eve speaks to Nick and he asks how she feels. She says something is wrong.
She woges and screams and then writhes around. She has an insane fit on the floor and it’s like her body is fighting her. She unwoges and lies still. They wonder what went wrong and Nick lays her on the bed. The others show up and Monroe says the books are safe.
They tell him how they tried to heal her with the stick and then electricity crackles. Trubel calls Nick. Diana is there and says Mommy wants me to tell you something. He says Mommy’s and friend made her tell her where he lives and she says sorry.
Diana says she told her and there were a lot of people there. Adalind says she’s a good girl and Diana asks what happened to her neck. Diana asks who did it and Adalind says a friend of daddy’s and Adalind says don’t worry and that she’ll lie down with her.
Black Claw surrounds the building and the alarm goes off. Nick says they’re in.
Black Claw invades and Nick tells them all to get into the tunnels. He says he’ll get Eve. Nick grabs her up and the others head down into the tunnels. Nick tells her they have to go. She asks where they’re going and he says they have to hide.
She asks what’s happening and says she doesn’t understand. She’s crying and freaking out. Nick sees it’s Juliette not Eve. Hank says they have to go as the noise gets closer. They climb down. Nick shuts them in and stays behind even though they freak.
Nick flips a table and prepares to make a last stand. Nick swaps gunfire with them. He uses one as a shield and keeps fighting. He takes out one after another but there are so many. Nick is shot in the chest. It’s one of the Wesen cops. He throws a knife into the guy’s arm.
Trubel wants to go back for Nick but Monroe says they have to get out and do what Nick wants. Rosalee pulls her along. Rosalee leads them the way she and Monroe went last time. Trubel tells the gang that she and Eve are going to hang back and wait on Nick.
Juliette tells Trubel that she feels a lot. Another cop comes at Nick with a machete. The guy shoots Nick twice more and he goes down. He collapses. The cop makes a call and says “it’s over” but Nick is up again and behind him. The guy says how the hell, then Nick kill him.
Rosalee and Monroe gets to a grate they can’t get to and then Rosalee chooses that moment to tell him they’re pregnant. She says she just found out and took three home tests. Rosalee starts crying about being pregnant with all this going on.
Monroe is thrilled and hugs her. Nick looks at the stick that saved him. Conrad comes in with Renard and says he didn’t think a Grimm could do this. Conrad says book or no book, he won’t make the mistake of not killing him.
The guy woges and magics Nick and is about to kill him. Then Renard stabs Conrad through the back but is surprised with his actions. Looks like Diana used him to kill Conrad because she has a doll in her hand with a pin through it to represent Conrad. Renard and Nick face off at each other.
