Before Annalise was Annalise, she was Anna Mae. Anna Mae was the woman that practically came from nothing only that hadn’t mattered because she had family. And not just a few people but a packed full room of people that loved her. So it was Anna Mae that Annalise wished to be on tonight’s all new episode of “How to Get Away with Murder” when she bought a plane ticket to Memphis and she went home to her mother.

Only Annalise had left a mess in her wake back in Philadelphia. Apparently Nate had later gone by her house to warn but she had already left town by then so it had been up to her people to figure out why the DA was issuing a warrant for her arrest though they didn’t know where to start. The fact the DA was only getting a warrant for Annalise’s arrest and no one else meant he didn’t know what exactly happened at the Hapstall house.

Yet, it hadn’t exactly been Annalise that’s been breaking laws for her clients. It has instead been her students and her associates who have hacked records and staged crimes scenes. And Bonnie had also told Oliver that he was not allowed to hack the police department so the only thing that had been left was to just ask Annalise herself.

So Nate was forced to fly down to Memphis to tell her about the warrant because she had ignored all of their calls, but she hadn’t seemed all that concerned about the warrant. And frankly Annalise had been blasé about the whole thing. As if it wouldn’t matter if she were to finally go to prison for something she’s done or been a part of.

Annalise had gone home to escape her other life and she wanted to continue running from it. Which is why she had tried to send Nate home after he had passed on the message yet Annalise’s mother had been the one to stop him from leaving. Ophelia Hartness had pride herself on being a good hostess and so she told Nate that she would never let a man come by her only to leave without being fed.

And therefore Nate had gone to dinner. Though nothing good came from it. Ophelia had grilled Nate about his life and whether he wanted children. So she had made things uncomfortable for both Nate and Annalise however Nate hadn’t known that he was going to act as a buffer between Annalise and her father. The same father that had abandoned the family and who Ophelia recently began dating again.

But Annalise and her father haven’t spoken in years. She still resented him for leaving her mother to take care of two children on her own which was how Ophelia came to depend on someone she shouldn’t have. Like her brother who had gone on to molest Annalise as a child thus Annalise hadn’t wanted to pretend like nothing was wrong with her father’s sudden reappearance. And she had in fact wanted to take him to task.

Her mother though had wanted to maintain the peace so she had tried to get Annalise to be a little more open-minded about her parents dating again. Only Annalise just wasn’t having and that led to Ophelia accusing Annalise of being stubborn. And she had then it was her daughter’s stubbornness that had stopped Annalise from having children.

An accusation that wasn’t true. Yet, it caused Annalise to withdraw from their conversation until she had ready to speak, but her mother hadn’t fully been prepared for Annalise’s confession and it was a confession because Annalise hadn’t even told Ophelia she was pregnant much less that she had lost the baby though there had been a reason for that last part.

Annalise has always felt guilty for what happened to her son and she’s often wondered about what if. What if she hadn’t taken that case miles away? What if she hadn’t gotten mixed up with the Mahoneys? Although, what had happened to her had actually been the Wallace Mahoney’s fault and her car had been run of the road because of what Frank allowed Wallace to overhear.

Frank it seems hasn’t always thought things through and years ago he had gotten angry with Annalise for the way she treated him. Almost as if he was a burden somehow. So when a young and attractive woman had offered a suitcase full of case to plant a listening device in Annalise’s room, he took the money. And has lived to regret it ever since.

Wallace had apparently overheard the very moment Annalise had told Eve she was going to go to the cops about him and so he had arranged for someone to run her off the road. Which resulted in the death of her son as well as Frank owing Sam. Frank had unfortunately confessed everything to Sam one he realized Annalise’s “accident” had been partial his fault and so he had also wanted to tell Annalise, but Sam had been the one to stop him. Sam had said it wouldn’t help her if she knew that she could have prevented it.

And therefore both Sam and Frank had agreed that night to protect Annalise from the truth. At least that’s what happened until one night Sam decided to use what he knew and blackmailed Frank into killing Lila for him. All so that Annalise wouldn’t know!

But Frank finally confessed to everything to Bonnie and Bonnie came to see why Frank had been so willing to do as Sam demanded.

Bonnie and Frank have a weird relationship with Annalise where she’s often acted as their mother as well as their teacher. So Bonnie knew that Frank had been scared to lose Annalise and yet they both knew that Annalise was going to need answers seeing as Laurel had blabbed. Though that’s become something of trait of Laurel’s now because she later told Frank who Wes’s father was. And it turns out Frank still had a something of a grudge with Wallace Mahoney.

However, back in Memphis, Annalise and her mother eventually worked came to terms with the past. And together they had held a candlelight vigil in memory of Annalise’s late son. Where they were able to vent all the things that Annalise had never allowed herself to say before.

So Annalise had later gone back to Philly in a much better head space and, there, she took charge. Oliver who had hacked the police department, despite Connor warning him not to, had apparently got so used to working for Annalise that he gave up on the idea on moving to California and had found out that Caleb was acting as an informant for the ADA. And therefore Annalise chose to play her own card.

And her card was Phillip. Phillip hadn’t meant to hurt her all those weeks ago. He had simply been trying to find someone who could help him and Catherine because they knew that Caleb had been the one to kill his parents and also his aunt. It seems Caleb that had either forgotten or had been unaware that there was a GPS tracker in his fitness band that detailed where it was on the nights his parents and aunt were murdered. So Phillip had actually given Annalise a flash drive detailing where Caleb was and the two had made a deal.

Annalise had brought Phillip in safely into custody and, in return, he talked Catherine into finally telling the truth about her relationship with her brother. Which as it turns out it was incestuous and why she had supplied her brother with a fake alibi. And as for the pesky ADA, it was hard to complain when he managed to close the biggest case of his career.

So it was a win-win for everyone and Caleb didn’t even have to face trial. He had later killed himself rather than face charges and Michaela was then left to recover. Albeit somewhere else besides Annalise’s house because Bonnie had kicked everyone in order to break the news to Annalise about Frank in private. Yet, Annalise ultimately didn’t want to understand Frank’s position. He had betrayed her and so she said he was out.

And over in New York, just as Wes had introduced himself to Wallace as his son, someone took a shot at Wallace!

Now I think it was Frank that killed him, but you never know with this show!

THE END!
