Kate Middleton Chutney: Makes Cheap Homemade Christmas Gift For Queen Elizabeth From Granny’s Recipe

Kate Middleton revealed that cheap homemade chutney was the gift of choice for Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas present. Kate made the chutney from her granny’s recipe as the first holiday gift to Prince William’s grandmother.

Get ready to hear the Duchess of Cambridge recount her panic over what to give the woman how has everything. And if Queen Elizabeth doesn’t have it someone other than Kate will happily supply whatever it is Queen Elizabeth’s heart desires.

That first Christmas at Sandringham was difficult enough and it could have been worse. What if Queen Elizabeth didn’t like the chutney? What if it tasted horribly? What an insult it would be not only to give Queen Elizabeth cheap homemade chutney, but horrible tasting at that!

How did Kate come up with the idea for a Christmas gift? She thought about her own grandparents and that’s when it dawned on her to make something rather than buy something. “I decided to make my granny’s recipe of chutney” Kate explains in the documentary.

This tidbit, and many more, will be revealed during the ITV documentary Our Queen at 90 airing on March 27. Queen Elizabeth loved the chutney so much Her Majesty placed it front and center at the dining table the very next day. Kate will divulge in the interview, [Queen Elizabeth] is hugely thoughtful.”

The Duchess of Cambridge was “slightly worried about it” but seeing the chutney on the dining table the next day helped Kate breath a huge sigh of relief. Now everyone is wondering what kind of chutney and which granny’s recipe?

The homemade delicacy could be the one from Pippa Middleton’s cookbook Celebrate. The one titled Granny’s Marrow Chutney. This is a very labor intensive recipe and takes hours and hours to get just right. No wonder Kate Middleton was so worried!

As to which grandmother’s recipe this is, Kate didn’t give any specifics. However, Carole Middleton is the granddaughter of a cook, so it’s probably a chutney recipe passed down from Carole’s mother Dorothy. And since Carole Middleton helped Pippa Middleton edit the cookbook it’s a safe bet to say, but not with 100 percent certainty, the recipe comes from Carole’s side of the family.

The Royal Family is known for giving gag gift type gifts to each other at Christmas. Granny’s Marrow Chutney that was Kate Middleton’s very first Christmas gift to Queen Elizabeth. An interesting choice or completely disgusting? It doesn’t sound especially appetizing, but what do we know.
