It has been noted that Queen Elizabeth and Countess Sophie send quite a bit of time together, more than ever during the Sandringham holiday. The Countess was given the honor of accompanying Queen Elizabeth in Her Majesty’s private car service at Sandringham for Christmas.
Palace insiders reveal that the Countess of Wessex and Queen Elizabeth enjoy an extremely close rapport. A royal aid confided, “[Countess Sophie] is trusted and relied upon in a way [that] couldn’t be applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall.”
The insider divulged to Daily Mail that the Queen Elizabeth views Countess Sophie as another daughter, not just a daughter-in-law.
While the Duchess Kate smiles and pretends to enjoy Queen Elizabeth’s stories of days gone by, Countess Sophie genuinely listens when Her Majesty talks about great historical events. A Palace source revealed that Sophie and Queen Elizabeth often lose track of time when reading over ancient documents in the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle.
Sophie has happily slipped down in the ranks of the Royal ladies. The Countess of Wessex, it has been said, was thrilled when Kate Middleton came along. It has allowed the Countess and Earl of Wessex to enjoy an ordinary family life. A Palace source says that Sophie Wessex is happiest when driving daughter Louise and son James to and from school.
Queen Elizabeth has always been exceptionally careful in her choice of confidents. For years the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and Princess Anne were the only members of the Royal Family in which Queen Elizabeth could share her most intimate thoughts.
The Duchess of Cambridge hasn’t been able to break into Queen Elizabeth’s inner circle. Those in the know reveal that Prince William has made a considerable number of attempts to change this but has failed miserably
The rebuffing by Queen Elizabeth has left Princess Kate desolate. Perhaps if the Duchess of Cambridge were not insistent upon including the Middleton family in nearly every Royal event Queen Elizabeth would become more trusting of her granddaughter-in-law.
Sophie Wessex has won Queen Elizabeth’s confidence. Kate Middleton may never enjoy such a close relationship with Her Majesty despite her best efforts.
