Kate Middleton Terrified, No More Nannies: Kensington Palace Staff Threatens To Strike and Quit After Wage Cut?

Will Kate Middleton be left raising Prince George and Princess Charlotte without any nannies?Employees of the Royal family at Kensington Palace have been asked to take a pay cut and the staffers are threatening to strike.

While things haven’t reached that point yet, Kate Middleton’s conspicuous consumption continues to rankle fair-minded people everywhere. Right now it’s just the staffers who interact with visitors at Kensington Palace who are upset – the just may go on strike.

Apparently these hard-working folks have been asked to take a substantial pay cut. If the pay cut were accepted the annual salaries of these workers, many who have been on the job for a decade, would fall below the poverty line.

The Public And Commercial Services Union (PCS) is trying to reach a compromise, but a source told The Sunday Times that a ballot-decided strike may be inevitable. Would a workers’ strike spread from the public sector employees to Kate Middleton’s personal staff?

No one really wins with this one, do they? If Kensington Palace employees are forced to accept a pay cut they live in poverty. What employees will be asked to work for less after that? And if reduced wages aren’t accepted will firings and/or lay-offs occur?

A spokesperson for Historic Royal Palaces confirmed that there will be changes to the employees working hours, but this will only affect a small number of people who work “in the front-of-the house team at Kensington Palace.“

The spokesperson went on to say that everyone was given a year’s notice of the changes. So that makes it okay to cut annual salaries?

One more thing this spokesperson said was that the “hourly rate wages would remain about the living wage.” Oh, and they value the staff very highly…

If every member of the Royal family gave up one thing, like say, private helicopter rides, ridiculously expensive shopping trips (all paid for by the taxpayer) for shoes and bags that each cost more than a month’s wages of these low-paid workers, etc., people could keep their jobs at the current rate of pay.

Maybe Kate Middleton could do with only two nannies? One could take on the day duties for both Prince George and one nanny for night duty.

After all, George heads off to preschool a few hours a day, right? And much has been made of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s cooking skills – the Cambridge’s could give up a cook a few days a week.

But, that then leaves devoted Royal staff members unemployed. Maybe taking Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and other non-essential Royals off the payroll would help working class employees, people who actually do something, keep their jobs.
