Major New Instagram Changes: Here’s What Instagram Users Need To Know About New Newsfeeds

Instagram announced some MAJOR changes coming to the social media app – and here’s what you need to know! Since Instagram arrived on the social media scene, it has had a pretty basic set-up, you follow people and then their posts show up in your newsfeed. But, according to a new press release from Instagram, that won’t be the way it works much longer.

Instead of just seeing your pals’ posts in chronological order as they are posted, your new Instagram feed will be tailored to posts of people you interact most with. For example, say you follow Kendall Jenner and like every single one of her posts. You also follow your Mom, and have never liked a single one of her posts. Well, from now on – you will see more and more of Kendall’s posts, and none of your Mom’s.

Facebook made similar changes to their set-up recently, and began tailoring our newsfeeds to represent the FB friends we interact with the most, and now Instagram is following suit. Theoretically, this is a good thing – your newsfeed won’t be bogged down by pictures and videos from people you obviously don’t have much interest in. But, there is a downside – just because you aren’t a chronic liker of someone’s posts, doesn’t mean you don’t want to see them anymore. Who else has gotten annoyed when they realized they missed some pretty important posts on FB that weren’t in their newsfeed?

So, in conclusion if you actually like a post on your Instagram feed – make sure you double-tap it, or else you won’t see much more like it. There will most likely be some major outcries from Instagram junkies once these changes take effect, but like every other social media shake-up, it shall pass and we’ll grow accustomed to the new look in no time.
