Mariah Carey’s family crisis has taken a turn for the worst as her older sister, Alison Carey, has reportedly been arrested for prostitution. There’s speculation that Mariah Carey is not giving her sister Allison Carey the help she needs as they’ve been estranged for quite some time now.
No family is perfect and Mariah Carey’s is no exception. Yet, Mariah Carey’s sister’s sobriety has been an uphill struggle, as she’s spent the last few years in and out of multiple rehab facilities for her alleged heroin addiction. What’s more, Alison Carey is HIV positive and has been left with no other option in her life other than to solicit money in exchange for sexual favors.
According to People Magazine, Alison Carey’s prostitution arrest happened when an undercover cop held an investigation at a Saugerties, New York area hotel. The police officer posed as a client during Alison Carey’s arrest.
So far, Mariah Carey herself has made no comments about Alison Carey’s prostitution charges. Other than a source close to the singer describing the situation as “painful,” Mariah Carey has not made any contact with her estranged sister for several years now after it was alleged that Alison Carey tried to sell stories about Mariah Carey to the tabloid media along with a “tell-all” book she was planning.
Of course, no one knows what the real truth is behind Mariah Carey and Alison Carey’s relationship, although several reports indicate that the singer paid for her sister’s rehab treatment in the past. What’s more, this isn’t the first time Alison Carey, who is also a mother to four children, has been arrested for prostitution. She was arrested twice in 2005 and her well-documented drug addiction carried on for years even though Mariah Carey has tried to help her several times.
Alison Carey’s bail has been set at $1,000 and is due in court on August 30th. So far, Mariah Carey has made no indication that she is willing to pay the bail amount or even reach out to her sister for that matter. Mariah Carey is reportedly worth an estimated $500 million while her fiancé, Australian businessman James Packer, has a net worth of $4.7 billion.
