Jake was once again playing the press when he called for a nationwide manhunt on tonight’s episode of “Notorious” for Sarah’s killer. Jake had apparently wanted to get in front of the story and the story had been that his client Oscar Keaton was a suspect in his wife’s Sarah’s murder. So the whole manhunt thing had been a way of downplaying the investigation into Oscar and Jake knew that it could also help with finding Sarah’s actual killer. But Jake was withholding a vital piece in that investigation and that had been his relationship with the victim.

Jake had been in love with Sarah and the two had recently spent a night together despite her marriage to Oscar. So an affair or what many would assume was an affair would be enough to convince someone that either Oscar or Jake had snapped on the day that Sarah was murdered. However, Jake was so busy playing with the truth that he didn’t know how to be honest with anything or anyone. Including with his brother Bradley that was growing increasingly concerned for him. Bradley had known what Sarah meant to his brother and so he had tried getting Jake’s mind off of what happened.

Bradley and Jake had a new client that had been personally recommended to them by a friend they had in Missing Children and so they thought they could trust Abby Rollins. Abby had said that she woke in the middle of the night to find her son Noah had gone missing. Yet, no one had doubted Abby’s story because she had been clearly distraught so Jake had placed a call to Julia and they had set up a publicized interview. So all Jake had to do was convince Abby that interview could help find her son and he was able to at least do that. And yet someone had called the tip line while Abby was on air and they had told Julia that Abby didn’t have a baby.

The “source” had claimed to be Abby’s ex-boyfriend and an eventual meeting had proved that he knew Abby personally. Though this ex-boyfriend said that he had been with Abby for a few months and that he had broken things off when he hadn’t been ready to commit. So he didn’t bear Abby any ill will, but he sure didn’t see a baby in all that time they had been together so Julia didn’t know what was going on. Julia had called Jake afterwards to come to her office and there she had asked him if he had been certain if Abby had a baby. And once he agreed to setting up a private meeting to determine whether or not Abby had a baby out there, Julia dropped her own bombshell.

Julia showed Jake the photos she has. She showed him the photo of Sarah beaten up, the photo of Oscar with another woman, the photo of Sarah’s dead body, and she even showed Jake the photo of him and Sarah in bed together. So Julia had showed him everything and she had told him that she was trying to track down who sent the photos. But Jake hadn’t cared that she was tracking down the lead because he had been angry that she sat on the photos for days without saying anything and so that made him act irrationally when it came to Abby. And that left Julia as the only one to actually question Abby’s story about what happened on the night her baby went missing.

Jake though had kept his promise and he had invited Abby to a private meeting with Julia. However, the story that Abby then tried to tell her hadn’t matched up with what Julia found. Abby had said that she hid the fact that she had a baby because she didn’t want to bring her ex around her son unless she had been sure about him yet Julia had fact-checked her and she had found out that Abby met Kyle online. Where Kyle’s profile mentioned he didn’t want to have kids. So Julia had looked into Abby’s story even as Jake refused to believe that Abby might be lying and Julia ended up finding something else about Abby.

Julia had found out that Abby’s ex-husband who was Noah’s father was up for parole and so she asked Jake if he could get her all the monitored phone calls that the father made recently. So Jake who had calmed down some had seen where Julia was going and he had offered to help as well as apologized for how he had reacted earlier. Yet, Jake’s client/ attorney relationship with Oscar was falling apart and Jake no longer felt like he could lie for Oscar anymore. Oscar had started drinking after Sarah’s death and that had made him sloppy. As in starting bar fights sloppy so Jake later changed his testimony.

Jake had originally said that he had arrived on the scene with Oscar however he changed that and admitted that Oscar had gotten there first. Though funnily enough Oscar wasn’t the first client that Jake was willing to betray because Jake did get his hands on the phone calls from prison and both he and Julia found out that Abby’s ex-husband had threatened her. Troy had said that he was getting out soon and that he was going to take Noah from Abby. So Julia and Jake had tagged team Abby with what they found out and she ended up telling them that she had given her son to a woman from church who she knew would provide him a good home.

Abby had done that because she thought that was the only way she could protect her son. But now that she had Jake and Julia on her side, they were able to come up with a story that meant she could get her son back and that the threats Troy had made had been played at his parole hearing. So Abby didn’t need to worry about Troy anymore and she had reclaimed her son who had been left a church. And while what Jake did to Oscar hadn’t been so clear-cut, he had later revealed to Julia that he had needed to find a way to get Oscar clean and prison seemed like the perfect place.

So Jake was still trying to look out for his client’s best interest and apparently that had upset Sarah’s brother to the point that he now wants to be on Julia’s show.
