Queen Elizabeth's Angry Comments On Chinese Officials Insulting British Ambassador and Security Chief Recorded

Queen Elizabeth’s comments to Commander Lucy D’Orsi regarding Chinese officials’ insulting and rude behavior toward Barbara Woodard, Britain’s Ambassador to China, were captured on film during a garden party on Tuesday, May 10. The Royal garden parties are often filmed by a cameraman assigned to Buckingham Palace news coverage.

Metropolitan Police Commander Lucy D’Orsi and Queen Elizabeth were discussing the way in which the Chinese treated Barbara Woodard, Britain’s ambassador to China during the President Jinping Xi’s State Visit last year. The Chinese diplomats were also insulting and rude to Commander D’Orsi.

The BBC reports that Lucy D’Orsi and Queen Elizabeth had a conversation after being introduced. Commander D’Orsi revealed to Queen Elizabeth that she was the Gold Commander during President Xi’s State Visit and that it was “quite a testing time for…” Queen Elizabeth replied, “I did.”

Commander D’Orsi was introduced to Queen Elizabeth during the party at Buckingham Palace and told Commander D’Orsi was in charge of security during the Chinese president’s visit to Britain in October. Queen Elizabeth response, ‘Oh, bad luck” was recorded.

Queen Elizabeth did not appear shocked or surprised during the discussion. Her Majesty’s replies did indicate the monarch was appalled by what she had heard.

The Chinese officials made it quite difficult for Commander D’Orsi and the security team assigned to the visiting diplomats to do their jobs. An official at the party told Queen Elizabeth that Commander D’Orsi was “seriously, seriously undermined by the Chinese” but Commander D’Orsi was able to remain in professional and command of the security situation.

Queen Elizabeth commented, “They were very rude to the ambassador” to which Commander D’Orsi replied, “They were…it was very rude and undiplomatic I thought.”

Buckingham Palace does not comment on Queen Elizabeth’s private conversations. Though a Royal spokesperson issued no statement on the conversation between Lucy D’Orsi and Queen Elizabeth, it was revealed that “all parties worked closely to ensure an extremely successful Chinese State Visit.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said that the department has no plans to discuss the private conversation between Queen Elizabeth and Commander D’Orsi.

China has censored all coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s comments. A report in the BBC World News regarding the garden party was removed. Comments made on social media have been taken down by online censors.
Despite the Chinese government’s best efforts, some news media outlets have managed to get around the censorship and report on Queen Elizabeth’s conversation with Commander Lucy D’Orsi about Barbara Woodard, Britain’s ambassador to China. Come back to CDL for all your Royal news!
