Abe had been furious at Sabrina. He had thought that she purposely hurt Rebecca so that had in turn, had made him defensive even though he had no reason to be and had actually made things worse by getting into Sabrina’s face. So Abe and Jeremiah nearly came to blows because Jeremiah knew that Abe was in the wrong and wasn’t going to allow his friend to yell at Sabrina while they were all outside on the street. But, luckily Abe backed down when given the chance and so finally allowed Sabrina to say what she needed to say.

Sabrina told Abe that she wasn’t like his brother. She said that not all addicts went through the same thing and to be fair she did have a point. Sabrina after all, was doing her best to get back on her feet while Abe’s brother, on the other hand, wasn’t genuinely trying to cut away all the toxicity in his life. So Sabrina had tried to point out to Abe that she had been unfairly judged, but he refused to see it that way and worse he was even contradicting himself. Abe had first said that he and Rebecca had come to New York to get closer to their friends and then he later changed his tune when he said that they had gone to New York to work on their relationship.

Which is it? Either way, though this thing between Abe, Rebecca, and Sabrina wasn’t going to get fixed until Sabrina’s “friends” stopped comparing her to Andrew. Mary had made dinner for everyone and she thought that with the calm atmosphere that everyone would feel comfortable about talking. However, the same problem that they’ve all been running into kept on cropping up because neither Abe nor his wife Rebecca felt like they were wrong. The couple mentioned that they didn’t like the fighting and Abe had even said that his wife’s feelings were hurt because she apparently couldn’t talk for herself. And then Abe had practically jumped on Sabrina when it had been her turn to speak.

Sabrina had said that her feeling too had been hurt. So she had been hoping that Abe and Rebecca would at least acknowledge that however, it seems that they couldn’t and again Abe made things worse when he implied that Sabrina was bound to fall off the wagon again. Yet, implying that had showed a lack of faith in Sabrina’s sobriety and so he really shouldn’t have said it even if he did believe it. And surprisingly what did help calm things was Kate’s presence. Kate had admitted that she was stressed from the finals she’s taking and that all the fighting was making her feel like she about to have a heart attack. So it was for Kate’s sake that they all stopped fighting.

Though Jeremiah later said something that made a lot of sense. He said that relationships, especially in the English world, were hard for those of them that were former Amish because they weren’t used talking about their feelings or doing any of the other things that other people would do to resolve the conflict. So it seems that they mostly try to guard themselves for those things or do their best to ignore it, but Kate and surprisingly Jeremiah have done a lot of work since they first left the Amish church and they seem like they’re both in better places. Kate, for instance, can now take criticism from her boss after she showed the older woman her website. And Jeremiah invited his kids out to New York despite everything because he knew that they were the most important people to him.

Jeremiah’s kids though were simply the cutest. They had come out because Jeremiah had wanted them to experience New York like he experienced it. So they had gotten to enjoy special deserts that were in the shape of mice and they even viewed Time Square with their dad because he had wanted to see it like he did. But going back home had been hard for them. One of Jeremiah’s daughters had cried as she was being put in the cab so Jeremiah had done his best to assure her that he would see her soon. And so that had sort of helped yet Jeremiah had been more devastated about them going back home than he let on.

Jeremiah admits that he doesn’t get to see his kids often because he’s been working all the time and trying to provide for them. So Sabrina had later taken him out as a way to cheer him up and that had also given them the opportunity to talk. Jeremiah had said that he was in a great place with his girlfriend and that he might even think she was the one however it seems like he was willing to risk what he had with said girlfriend after Sabrina had made her confession. Sabrina had confessed that she hadn’t been on a good date in a while and that she hadn’t been on a real date where she gets dressed up and taken to a romantic restaurant in like ever so Jeremiah thought his girlfriend would understand if he asked Sabrina out on a date as friends.

Jeremiah had been very clear when he said that they would only be going on a date as friends, but he had also given Sabrina some mixed symbols so that hadn’t helped matters when Sabrina began to see their date as something more. Jeremiah had gotten all dressed up thanks to Kate and her friend giving him a makeover and he had showed up with flowers when it was time to take Sabrina out. So that had given Sabrina mixed signals and their friends also had gotten mixed signals because Abe, Rebecca, and Kate thought that Jeremiah and Sabrina wouldn’t be able to be just friends. And so the trio had thought that the date was a mistake.

And while everyone else was busy discussing Jeremiah and Sabrina’s relationship, Mary was busy piercing her daughter’s earrings because Esther wanted that English experience at least.

THE END!
