‘The Americans’ Season 4 Episode 10 spoilers for ‘Munchkins’ reveal that the very pregnant wife of Pastor Tim (Kelly AuCoin) tells Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys), Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), and Paige Jennings (Holly Taylor) that the pastor has gone missing in Ethiopia.
Tim’s wife threatens their family that if he doesn’t come home safely, she’ll release a tape she made to the Justice Department that reveals their KGB secret. Paige grills her parents since, back in the early-to-mid-80s, Russia had significant control in Ethiopia and a military presence.
Elizabeth asks Paige, “Do you think we kidnap people and kill them?” Of course that’s what Elizabeth and Philip do, but does Paige know that? Elizabeth goes to Gabriel (Frank Langella) who tells her the hard part is already done – but it looks like he’s talking about her other project.
Remember Elizabeth slept with Young Hee’s (Ruthie A Miles) husband Don (Rob Yang) and now has to leverage them to get access to Level 4 at the lab so William (Dylan Baker) can get hold of the Lassa virus for Directorate S. Looks like Elizabeth’s girls nights out with Young Hee are done.
But now they have to tie up the loose end of Tim, the pregnant wife, and the tape telling their awful truth, all while juggling an ever-doubtful Paige. After all, it was Paige’s loose talk that invented this mess. Elizabeth tells Paige that they may have to leave America.
Paige doesn’t catch on right away that Elizabeth is saying the whole family may have to flee to Mother Russia. Teen troublemaking usually doesn’t end with those kind of migratory consequences and Paige is absolutely floored. Is this a plan to scare everyone straight – Tim, the wife, and Paige?
The teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of Tim who looks healthy enough but where is he and did the Directorate take Tim to try and scare some sense into him? Or is this just a coincidence? Nah. Looks like it was an opportunity to take Tim and decide if he can be reasoned with or not.
Tim seems to be embroiled in a discussion with two people – and he’s wearing a sweater. Did Tim even make it out of DC? The pastor’s wife reveals to Paige that she’s really scared. Will Paige talk reason to her? Can she find out where the tape is hidden?
