The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers indicate that the end of another soapy year is upon us. There were some noteworthy performances in 2016 and we want to acknowledge a few of them. Check out our picks for best B&B actress and vote for your favorite in our poll.
First, let’s talk about the awesome work Rena Sofer (Quinn) did. Quinn took center stage for much of this year and Sofer proved that’s exactly where she should be. We’ve seen a whole new side of Quinn lately. Her time at the cabin with Liam (Scott Clifton) sent her down an interesting path.
Sofer has emphasized Quinn’s sweetness throughout her time with Eric (John McCook). Normally, we’d be rooting for Quinn to stir up mischief. Although that’s always fun to see, it’s been nice to root for Quinn’s happiness. It was up to Sofer to make us “Team Quinn” and she got the job done.
Of course, Sofer had some “Quinn-tessential” moments along the way. Quinn has still been scheming and that murder fantasy was…well, killer! We can’t forget Sofer’s elegance when she stepped up for the showstopper. She’s certainly been a standout in 2016.
Heather Tom knocked it out of the park as Katie, too. When Katie suspected Bill (Don Diamont) was cheating, she quickly spiraled out of control. Tom was a powerhouse in all of those scenes. You’ll have trouble finding a better crier in the soap world.
After Katie’s marriage came to an end, Tom put a subtle spin on the divorce. Katie’s rage was replaced by the unlikely mixture of cynicism and hopefulness. Tom has has a broad range, so she always brings something different to the table. The Bold and the Beautiful should be glad to have her.
We should give props to Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) as well. Brooke handled some tricky situations this year, so Lang had to approach the material carefully. Though Brooke was a bit of a homewrecker, Lang perfectly conveyed how torn she was.
After the truth came out, Katie tearfully said goodbye to her sister. Lang helped us feel Brooke’s intense pain. Later, Brooke struggled to choose between Bill and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). Lang had some sweet moments with both of them.
Finally, we have Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy). Wood gave us some unforgettable confrontations. When Steffy went up against Quinn, Wood really packed a punch. Her delicate touch was also impressive in her messy love triangle with Liam (Scott Clifton) and Wyatt (Darin Brooks).
