The Humans were gearing up for this big push-back against the strigoi on tonight’s episode of “The Strain” when Councilwoman Justine Feraldo suggested that Fet led his own team. Justine realized that Fet was onto the nest before anyone else and the fact that he had seen it for himself meant he also knew how to do the most damage. So Fet was going to do back into the tunnels with some of the highly trained men that they still had left. However, some of her officers out there on the streets were supposed to be assembling their men when really they were sending out untrained offenders and sometimes locking them in with the strigoi.

The officers were apparently using the men and women to clear their way in the tunnels so they would wait for a signal before going in themselves. So that’s what happened to Gus as well as many others. They were used to clear the way and fortunately Gus’s team had Gus on their side. He at least knew what he was doing and was able to show the others how to protect themselves. But the officers on his detail were particular sadistic. The team “guarding” Gus and the others had often wanted to play games down in the tunnels yet one game in which the officers had set out a young woman to go check a tunnel by herself had been enough for Gus.

Gus had gotten tired of having his life on the line just to please two officers that were greatly outnumbered. So he and his old friend Angel made their move when the officers weren’t looking. They had a play for the guns and had killed the officers before their friend that had been sent out into the tunnels had gotten hurt. Yet, if that’s what was happening with Gus then there was a good chance that it was happening with the others. And so no one was bothering to stay or fight though Fet’s mission down in the tunnels was always going to end badly.

Fet had gotten the elite group that Justine assigned to him and he had also gotten some help from Eph and Dutch. Eph and Dutch had told Fet about their machine that they had come up with and how it picked up messages between the strigoi when he had stopped by his old place to get some weapons, but the readings on that machine were just picking up on strong signals when Fet comm’d them from underground. Fet had told them Eph that he needed to get down in the tunnels because he had found something about Zach.

Fet and his people had found Zach’s room in the tunnels. But the reason why Fet had called Eph and told him to get down there was because Zach had left a message for his father. Zach had wanted to know that whoever found his book would tell his father that he was still alive. So Eph had eventually gotten that message and that had given him hope however Eichorst had eventually revealed himself to Eph. Eichorst had had his own message and he had wanted to congratulate Eph on the humans winning battle. Though, it went unspoken that the humans were also losing the war.

Eph hadn’t known what Eichorst was talking about at the time, but he had managed to scar Eichorst by lopping off his arm before Eichorst got away. So Eph and Dutch eventually back above ground because they thought Zach could be nearby. However, the only thing that was nearby was a large army of strigoi. The strigoi had lured Fet into believing that the nest under the park was their army and unfortunately Fet believed it. Fet had convinced Justine that everything was going to be over by nightfall when it turns out the strigoi simply wanted everyone to believe they were safe.

So Fet and his team that had thought they were lucky when they met with Gus were in for a rude awakening. Fet had lost a lot of men in the tunnels and Gus had stayed behind with him when everyone else decided to go above ground. But the silver bomb that Fet had dropped on the nest had only killed thousands of what might possibly of strigoi. So Fet and Gus thought they were heroes when they pulled off the mission and the entire time there was a large army just above them. Attacking everyone and even reclaiming some of the territory they thought they finally had won.

And so Justine had no choice. She had to recall her men that were outside and pull them back into the safety zone. Yet, many did make it on their trip back and everyone that was still around or in the park was at risk. So that meant that everyone that was in the tunnels was at risk because they hadn’t been able to carry out anything until after dark.
