The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Is Steve Burton Leaving Y&R After Jill Farren Phelps Firing, Mal Young Major Cast Changes?

The Young And The Restless (Y&R) spoilers revealed this week that there was a major change in regime at the CBS soap opera. Jill Farren Phelps is officially fired, and British soap guru Mal Young is taking over as Y&R’s executive producer. We know that as Mal Young takes over, there will be a major change in storylines.

Could there be some major changes in the cast too? Will Steve Burton stay at The Young And The Restless without Jill Farren Phelps at the helm?

If you have been following the soap opera industry drama over the years, then you know that JFP took some ‘General Hospital’ cast members with her when she left, and took them to The Young And The Restless… like Steve Burton. Steve Burton was a cornerstone at General Hospital, but the actor quit his role as Jason Morgan to move to The Young and the Restless with JFP and popped up in Genoa City as Dylan McAvoy soon after.

UPDATE: Interestingly enough news broke today that Michael E. Knight who was brought into “Y&R” by JFP is out at the CBS Soap.  More details HERE!

Steve Burton spoke out in interviews after the major casting coup, and explained that he wanted to spend more time with his family, and JFP promised to give him a flexible schedule at Y&R and make it possible for him.

But, with Jill gone, will the new powers-that-be act as lenient with the soap vet?

If ever there was a time to write Dylan McAvoy out of Genoa City, now would be it. The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that it is only a matter of time before Sharon’s baby secret is revealed, and Dylan learns that Sully is not his child.

If Burton has no intention of staying on at the CBS soap full time, it would be easy to write Dylan out and have him leave town after he learns he doesn’t have a son – it’s safe to say he won’t want anything to do with Sharon either.

Interestingly, less than a week ago it was revealed that another cast member that is very close to Jill Farren Phelps was shockingly stepping down to recurring status.

Hunter King apparently decided to pursue the sitcom Life In Pieces full time, and her status change was confirmed at Y&R. Could Steve Burton follow suit?
