The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Billy (Jason Thompson) will find conflict again, but it won’t involve Victoria (Amelia Heinle) or Phyllis (Gina Tognoni). After literally sending Travis (Michael Roark) packing, Vickie is trying to convince herself that she can live without romance. So Billy is out of the picture indefinitely, which will allow him to spend time with two familiar faces.
Thompson assumed this role a year ago next month. The long-time General Hospital star has played to mixed reviews since his arrival. This scribe looked beyond the misguided Philly storyline he was given and saw potential for a soap opera veteran to fit into the Y&R cast, which he has.
New head writer Sally Sussman wants to restore the two legacy families that live in Genoa City; Of course those clans are the Newman’s and the Abbott’s. So Billy-boy should be offered meaty scripts moving forward. A second-look opportunity will therefore be offered to skeptical viewers in this regard in 2017. All are asked to keep an open mind about what’s yet to come, rather than compare him to Mr. Billy Miller.
Billy Miller’s transcendent version of this character will almost certainly never be equaled. That’s why it would be best for Sussman’s team to place Thompson’s character into a conflicted position where he remains vulnerable.
Surely the Bella (Cali May Kinder) paternity angle can be mined for months if that fictional road is taken. It would be intriguing to see how Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) interacts with Thompson on a regular basis, as her work with Miller was outstanding.
Stalwart viewers know that Billy never loved Chloe, instead she was his stalker. It wouldn’t be believable for him to fall in love with her now, or ever. No, if Billy discovers that Bella became his daughter through Chloe’s scandalous actions he’ll go ballistic. And that plot point has the potential to be delicious in many flavors.
Certain fallout would also be created due to the impact said revelation would have on Kevin (Greg Rikaart). Once upon a time Billy (as in Billy Miller’s version) hated Kevin (always Rikaart). Might Mr. Fisher become unhinged if he saw Mr. Abbott as a threat to ‘Khloe’? Kevin’s sustained reactions might channel an inner chipmunk, or even his darker alter ego fire-starter.
Yes, the proposed arc referenced does have potential. Don’t push Billy into risky territory with new nemeses. Rewrite him back to when he was great. Thompson and the fans would likely find this option very appealing.
