The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Dylan (Steve Burton) will begin his undercover mission. Sharon (Sharon Case) will once again plead with her husband to back out of it, but his mind will be made up. Dylan will head straight into danger as he arrives in Miami.
When Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) gets updates on Dylan’s assignment, she’ll lash out at Paul (Doug Davidson). Nikki will insist that Dylan shouldn’t be doing something risky. His life fell apart and he’s still trying to pick up the pieces.
The Young and the Restless spoilers state that Paul will defend his actions. He’ll note that Dylan signed on for missions like this. Paul might add that Dylan could’ve rejected this particular assignment if he’d wanted to. The final choice was Dylan’s alone.
Nikki will still be angry that Paul even suggested it. She’ll feel like he’s putting their son in harm’s way. Nikki will worry that Dylan could get hurt or killed while he’s undercover. She’ll hate that Dylan has to cut off contact. It’s just another item that can go on Nikki’s list of concerns.
Sharon will certainly fret, too. Maybe Nikki and Sharon’s mutual fears could actually help them make peace. Regardless, it looks like Dylan could land in major trouble. Y&R has definitely played up the danger angle so far. There’s a good chance Dylan could get killed, hurt or at least have a life-threatening encounter.
In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, some hints were offered on this hot plot. Mal Young, the executive producer of The Young and the Restless, noted that their writers have “an exciting story planned that wonderfully showcases the talents of both Steve Burton and Sharon Case.”
SOD added that “Dylan’s exit story from Y&R will be can’t-miss.” Notice that they said Dylan’s exit and not just Steve Burton’s. Unless that was a minor slip, we can assume that there’ll be no recast. With that in mind, we have a few options for Dylan’s departure.
Dylan could be killed off or simply presumed dead, but there are other ways they could take this. For example, Dylan’s PTSD could be triggered during a shootout or something along those lines. He could stay away from his family for their safety.
Then again, perhaps Dylan will do quite well undercover. He could decide that he has to go even deeper. Sharon may have to divorce Dylan if he abandons her permanently. Once Dylan’s had a taste of life away from the pain, he may not want to return. Losing “Sully” really broke him.
