“The Young and the Restless” (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Natalie (Mara McCaffray) will grow closer in new episodes. When Natalie first came to town, Y&R did a nice job of setting up a cute love triangle. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) had lingering feelings for Kevin and he cared for her on some level as well.
However, Kevin was certainly intrigued by Natalie and it caused a bit of a feud with Mariah.
Unfortunately, the whole thing was put on hold when Passkey started up. Natalie was too busy working on the program and keeping schemes under wraps. Now that the chaos has died down, Natalie has a little more time for love. “The Young and the Restless” spoilers indicate that Natalie will find herself connecting with Kevin.
Natalie mentioned that she’d never really had a boyfriend before. She definitely sees some potential in everyone’s favorite computer geek. Mariah will undoubtedly be irked by Kevin’s renewed interest in Natalie.
Despite their failed encounter, Mariah still appears to be pining for Kevin. He doesn’t quite seem to feel the same way, but it’s often hard to tell. Kevin is the master of mixed signals.
Of course, there are several directions this storyline could go in. It’s possible that Kevin and Natalie will fall in love. That would leave Mariah feeling pretty low, but maybe she’d finally be able to move on.
Option number two might be that Kevin ends up liking Natalie, but ultimately realizes he loves Mariah.
The third possibility could be that Kevin hooks up with Natalie and things once again go terribly. In that case, Mariah would feel much better knowing that she wasn’t to blame for their breakup. It might make Kevin rethink what he’s looking for in a partner, too.
“Days of Our Lives,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “General Hospital” have all done major storylines exploring the fluidity of sexuality. Is “The Young and the Restless” about to join in by making Kevin gay?
Greg Rikaart has mentioned in various interviews that he’d like to take his character on that journey.
It’s tough say what Y&R has planned for Kevin over the next year or so, but you just never know. When you consider how Kevin’s love life has been going, it wouldn’t be very difficult to craft a coming out storyline from that. Stay tuned for updates on Kevin’s future.
