“The Young and The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers ask a question on Mother’s Day since we know that next week’s episodes of the CBS soap during May Sweeps will bring much more mama drama. But in honor of Mother’s Day, we take a look at three Genoa City moms that have not always been the best of mothers. Check out these three moms then vote in the CDL POLL for the WORST mom on Y&R.
Phyllis Abbott (Gina Tognoni)
Phyllis was such a hot mess that she lost custody of her son Daniel thanks to her shady actions. Plus, the only reason she had the kid was that she basically raped Danny Romalotti. Second kid Summer Newman (Hunter King) was the result of Phyllis cheating on Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis spent part of her childhood in jail for blackmail.
That’s not a great start to parenting. Then it got ickier later when Phyllis flirted with Kyle during the paternity debate over Summer.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott)
Nikki can’t provide a stable home for her kids because her life always revolves around a man. Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) may have benefited the most by NOT growing up with her. After all, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelie Heinle) had to grow up with their mom bouncing man to man and hitting the bottle, so none of those are hallmarks of a decent mother. And even now, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) comes first – never her kids.
Sharon Newman (Sharon Case)
Sharon may lack consistency as a parent, but you have to give her high marks for fertility. For starters, Sharon was such a clueless parent, she didn’t even know she had twins the first time around. Sharon ran off after smooching Victor and abandoned her kids. Plus, when she didn’t know who Faith’s dad was and thought it was one of three men, that was terrible mothering.
But the most egregious of all is what Sharon is doing now by keeping Christian away from Nick and betraying Sage’s last wish.
