Abby Lee Miller Sentenced to One Year in Prison For Bankruptcy Fraud

Former ‘Dance Moms’ host Abby Lee Miller is going to prison. New reports say that the controversial reality television star was sentenced to serve one year and one day behind bars in prison for multiple counts of bankruptcy fraud. She was fined $40,000 and ordered to pay $120,000 judgment and give a DNA sample for her felony charge.

Abby Lee Miller was indicated on 20 counts of bankruptcy fraud after she allegedly hid $775,000 worth of assets in both 2012 and 2013. At the time, she claimed that she was only making $8,999 monthly on her tax returns.

If that weren’t enough, Abby also failed to declare $120,000 worth of currency she brought home after a trip from Australia in 2014. Authorities in the case say that the Lifetime network star divided the money into several plastic bags before boarding a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles back. She had her assistants put the bags in their luggage.

So far Abby Lee Miller herself has not made any comments about the verdict, although she did tell media outlets she is absolutely scared of going to jail. She told People Magazine that she’s afraid of getting abused behind bars. She told the publication back in April, “I’m afraid of being physically abused or rape. I have to stay busy. If I thought about it every day, I’d just sit around and cry. I made mistakes. I trusted people. But ultimately I have to take responsibility for those mistakes. I have to take the blame. I have to take the punishment.”

Back in January, Abby made it no secret that she was desperate to stay out of jail. Her lawyers said that she learned from her mistakes and simply wanted to move on with her life. She was also hoping to just pay a fine and put the entire ordeal behind her. While no one knows how much time she’ll spend in jail, many insiders believe that she’ll be seeing at least 10 months in prison and a possible stint in a halfway house.

Abby Lee Miller officially quit ‘Dance Moms’ back in March. The dance choreographer was often slammed for being a bully to her dancers with her intimidation tactics and the cruel things she often said to them. Abby told her fans that it was all an act to help boost ‘Dance Moms’ ratings for the Lifetime network.
