When it was first announced that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were going to separate, it was very clear from Brad’s end that he didn’t want it. He didn’t want the separation, he didn’t want a divorce, and Angelina’s announcement and filing took him completely by surprise. Now, it’s abundantly clear that whatever happened between them on that airplane (involving their children) shook him deeply, but since he was allegedly at fault, it obviously affected Angelina Jolie more; enough that she ended up filing for divorce – taking the world, and Brad, by surprise.
After the divorce filing, things became real contentious, real fast. Both parties began leaking to the press to minimize PR damage on their sides, and both attempted to make the other look like the villain in the situation. That went on for a few months until they both came to their senses and realized that this was negatively affecting their children in the long run, and recently, both have been taking pains to calm down the situation. In fact, Angelina even admitted in a recent interview that they will ‘always’ be a family, regardless of their divorce or separation.
But alas, is Brad Pitt in the same place as Angelina Jolie? Reports are now flying around that Brad is refusing to sell Chateau Miraval and holding up their divorce in the process. A report from Radar Online claims, “Angelina’s wanted to sell that place for years, but he always managed to convince her to hold off. Now Brad’s insisting that the property be held in a trust for the kids and he is prepared to compromise by selling off the vineyard…. Angie is making her own inquiries about selling it and finding out it could take up to five years to unload a property that expensive in France.”
So basically, Angelina Jolie hates Chateau Miraval and wants to sell it, but Brad Pitt and their children love it. That puts her in a tough bind, doesn’t it? If she insists that Brad sell it, she may be going against her children’s wishes – and making herself the bad guy in the process. However, if she lets Brad keep it, then she’s going against something that she genuinely – supposedly – dislikes.
But at the end of the day, doesn’t Angelina Jolie usually get what she wants? She’s holding all the cards right now, including custody of their children. Sure, their therapists are the ones that control visitation, etc., but it’s more than obvious that the children trust Angelina significantly more than they trust their father – and it’s not just because they’re spending more time with her.
