Fans of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice may not be entirely shocked to learn that Arnold Schwarzenegger was apparently fired after only 1 season of being the “Governor” on the show according to President Trump; but it was deemed necessary if NBC planned to renew the series for another season.
Arnold Schwarzenegger brought a whole new low when it came to ratings; although he blamed it Donald Trump, the President of the United States (POTUS). Donald Trump did have a lot of fun mocking and belittling Schwarzenegger on social media and of course had something to say about the horrible ratings; but that isn’t the only thing that the former Governor blames on the POTUS.
Arnold Schwarzenegger admits he thoroughly enjoyed everything about the show, and everyone he worked with, but he will not be back. Is it possible the former bodybuilder is partially right about the show being such a disaster because of the new President?
Donald Trump’s name is deeply associated with The Celebrity Apprentice and due to some people’s political views, they vowed to avoid the show entirely and boycott anything that has to do with Trump; even though essentially he has nothing more to do with this season than having his name in the credits; sources for The Celebrity Apprentice, even hinted that advertisers left for the same reason.
On the other hand, Schwarzenegger’s attacks on President Trump and failure to support his fellow Republican during the 2016 election campaign would have driven away the roughly 1/2 of American voters who choose The Donald. So one can easily see how the show could suffer. On the one hand you have Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump as former star and current executive producer driving away his detractors – and on the other hand you have anti-Trump Schwarzenegger driving away The President’s supporters. You can easily see why it’s best to keep American politics out non-political TV shows!
The battle between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump was very public and preceded Celebrity Apprentice – it was covered on news and social media sites. Trump openly berated him, asking people to pray for the Arnold and his awful ratings; instead of ignoring his words, Arnold responded on his social media, telling Trump to exchange jobs with him, since he is so invested in ratings.
It truly is sad if The Celebrity Apprentice cannot bounce back from those horrendous ratings of last season. Clearly Arnold publicly ‘quit’ before he was formally terminated, but you have to admit, fans will never find another show quite like it, celebrities with such diverse backgrounds vying for jobs as a business apprentice. Let’s hope they can find a new boss for the boardroom and bring the show back to its glory days!
