Camilla Parker-Bowles is hoping to spark a new friendship with Prince Harry’s girlfriend and possible future wife, Meghan Markle. That’s because the Duchess of Cornwall is desperate for a royal ally and interestingly, Meghan Markle might just be Camilla’s girl!
Camilla Parker-Bowles and Meghan Markle come from different worlds, but they actually have a lot in common. Both are outsiders and both know they have to work extra hard to prove their worth to the royal family. Camilla was the villain in Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage. The public still has a hard time accepting her to this very day. With Meghan Markle, it’s no different.
A lot of royal observers have a problem with the fact that she is both American and a Hollywood actress. According to her critics, Meghan has no business dating someone like Prince Harry or marrying into the royal family for that matter. Camilla sees this and that’s why she wants to show Meghan that she can be a trusted friend.
For Camilla Parker-Bowles, it’s safe to say that she will take all the help that she can get right now. ‘The Summer of Diana’ has been one of the worst on record for her as her popularity has plummeted to an all-time low. She’s worked so hard to soften her image and appear more likeable in public but with the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, all people can talk about is how Camilla and Prince Charles did Diana wrong.
There’s a strong possibility that Camilla has had enough of all of the negative publicity. And considering how Kate Middleton hasn’t been any help, she’s hoping that sparking a friendship with Meghan Markle would work out to her advantage. By appearing friendly and close with Meghan during their royal engagements and appearances together, it will show the world that Camilla has an ally within the royal family.
Plus, it might also make Kate Middleton jealous. Not only will she have to deal with Meghan stealing her spotlight, but her unlikely relationship with Camilla. The Duchess knows that Meghan Markle and Camilla Parker-Bowles together would cause her trouble.
Then again Prince Harry hasn’t even proposed to Meghan Markle yet. No one even knows if the two will even get married. But once they do it wouldn’t surprise anyone if Camilla Parker-Bowles were front and center at the wedding to show her support.
