It looks like Daniel Craig’s James Bond days may be over. That’s because there are hot new reporst that suggest British-born actor Idris Elba is set to replace him as the iconic on-screen 007. Idris has been denying James Bond casting buzz for months now, but a lot of fans believe that’s only because he didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag too early.
Just recently, director John Ridley hinted that Idris is already working on his new project. Speaking about how much he loved working with Idris on their film ‘Guerrilla,’ John told BBC One Radio, “It was a pleasure, he’s a gentleman. I can’t wait to see him as James Bond quite frankly.”
Idris Elba dismissed the report by saying, “I have no idea why he said that,” even though at this point everyone is convinced that he has the role. It’s only a matter of time before James Bond producers make it official. Even though other Hollywood actors like Aidan Turner, Michael Fassbender and even Tom Hiddleston have been considered for the role, everyone had their money on Idris.
If that weren’t enough, many insiders also believe that actress Freida Pinto will be playing Idris’ leading lady. She even said that she would play the role under one condition, and that would be if her Bond girl could have a bigger voice or better yet, have a more prominent role alongside James Bond himself.
As far Daniel Craig, though, it looks like his James Bond years have come to an end. Although is it really surprising? It was not too long ago that he said he would rather slit his wrists than play James Bond in another movie. Just recently he did hint that he had a change of heart when he said he could continue playing his role in the franchise even though many believe that ‘Bond 25’ might be his last film. For producers though, it looks like they’ve already moved on.
Of course, no announcements have been made just yet although a lot of people are hoping that Idris Elba will be made the next James Bond of the big screen. Plus, if Freida Pinto were to be named the next Bond girl, it would not only help boost her career but make the next James Bond film the most anticipated film yet.
