Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers announce that Vincent Irizarry (Deimos) is out at the NBC soap. It’s not too surprising when you consider the current direction of the storyline. Deimos is headed for a nasty breakup with Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and she’s the only thing keeping him from embracing the dark side.
Deimos is still holding people hostage and trying to kill his enemies. Just imagine what he’ll do once he’s got nothing left to lose! Of course, Nicole’s influence on Deimos is arguably what led to the failure of this character.
When Deimos first arrived in town, he seemed like a villain with staying power. Vincent Irizarry initially shined as Salem’s newest baddie, but things went awry when Deimos became infatuated with Nicole. Deimos tried to earn his family’s forgiveness for Nicole’s sake and Days fans weren’t pleased by how it played out.
We can’t forget that Deimos played a role in Bo’s (Peter Reckell) demise. He was partially responsible for Bo’s time in captivity. Are we really supposed to believe that Victor (John Aniston) would forgive the brother he already loathed? Deimos contributed to Bo’s death and paralyzed Maggie (Suzanne Rogers)!
Not only did Victor pardon Deimos, he actually put him in charge of Titan Industries. Brady (Eric Martsolf), Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and Sonny (Freddie Smith) were all passed over in favor of the black sheep of the Kiriakis clan. Moves like that tend to irritate Days viewers. When you add in Deimos’ excessive airtime and bizarre appeal to multiple women, the character was doomed.
Now we just have to wonder how Days of Our Lives is going to write Deimos out. There’s no shortage of people who hate Deimos in Salem. Since DOOL had a lot of success with their last murder mystery, could we get another one? It’s a possibility to consider.
Based on a leaked audition tape, it looks like Deimos will soon target Sonny. He’ll apparently wear some sort of mask as he carries out his plot. Someone could shoot Deimos and not even know it at first. Then again, perhaps there’ll be a scuffle and Sonny will have to kill him in self-defense. It’s worth mentioning that Sonny will have some scenes in the interrogation room down the road.
Deimos might fake his death if Days of Our Lives wants to keep their options open. He helped Xander (Paul Telfer) do the same, so he could easily pull it off. Deimos could always pop up for vengeful return stints.
