Game Of Thrones Season 7 Premiere Date Leaked: Liam Cunningham Reveals July Return!

Winter is coming! Except… winter this year will be coming during the summer, or more specifically, in July. Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth on ‘Game of Thrones,’ has revealed in an interview that the 7th season of Game of Thrones will be releasing in July – a little factoid that HBO was waiting to drop into some hotly anticipated trailer or press conference, no doubt.

Unfortunately for them, Cunningham went ahead and spoiled the surprise, telling the Independent in an interview, “I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the [filming for the] final season starts again as far as I know in September.”

Uh-oh… looks like Liam might be in trouble with the head honchos at HBO. They’ve managed to keep a tight ship for so long, only to be undone by a talkative actor – and he’s not even one of the leads!

Then again, HBO has bigger leaks to worry about. HBO had already announced a while back that the show wouldn’t be premiering in April as it normally did, due to filming having been postponed; they needed a colder setting for all the winter scenes (WINTER IS COMING Y’ALL), and thus, waiting to film until the actual winter (not Westeros winter) arrived. So we already knew that the release date would be postponed, and well, what is three months in the grand scheme of things? A blip in the radar, right?

Besides, HBO’s been trying their best to keep a lid on some of their bigger secrets. Some on-set photos that leaked earlier last year revealed two MAJOR characters meeting (search for those images at your own peril), and rumor has it that executives were furious when those pictures got out. Compared to that, the slip of the release date is nothing.

So anyway, set your DVR’s and start planning your parties – Game of Thrones will be back in July! Only for half a normal season, but still! And then after that, we only have one season to go until it all ends (and the high probability that everyone dies, thank you George R. R. Martin).
