General Hospital spoilers have revealed that Port Charles’ favorite Don Juan, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is already on the market following the demise of his marriage to Carly (Laura Wright). Sonny will share a passionate kiss with newcomer ‘Martina,’ a feisty lawyer who appears on screen May 2. But where does that leave Carly?
General Hospital’s volatile super couple seems to have trouble with the “for better or worse” part of their marriage vows, evidenced by their inability to actually stay married. The alleged death of their son Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) combined with Nelle’s efforts to sabotage their relationship may have driven the final nails in the coffin of their marriage. Sonny, who steadfastly remained committed to winning Carly back these past few months, is finally done.

General Hospital history would make the most likely pick Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), who currently shares Mrs. Corinthos’ bed. Carly has forgiven Jax for the Nelle black market kidney debacle and even golden child Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) stands by his former stepfather. Jax is the most obvious love interest for Carly post-Sonny, but General Hospital spoilers sources say the strikingly handsome Aussie is not sticking around Port Charles much longer. The actor is slated to resume his role as Robert Coughlin in the popular series Hawaii Five-O and is set to appear as the character Friedrich in the sci-fi series Counterpart.
Finn (Michael Easton) is another possible choice. Carly was one of the very first to befriend the eccentric Dr. Hamilton Finn, and the doc needed friends (his only one appeared to be a scaly yet strangely charismatic bearded dragon). One couldn’t help but notice the chemistry between the brilliant doctor and the savvy hotel owner, but at the time of their meeting, Carly was committed to Sonny and Finn soon became entangled with Hayden. However, Hayden recently ended the relationship with the complicated doctor. Could Carly be the one to capture Finn’s heart and help him conquer his drug addiction?
Last month, GH executive producer Frank Valentini teased GH fans saying “you’ll NEVER guess who (Griffin) hooks up with.” General Hospital buzz is that Griffin Munro’s (Matt Cohen) potential love interest is older and married, and fans can’t help but speculate that Carly fits the bill, making Griffin a third choice for Carly. The honest, steady doctor might be just the medicine Carly needs. And he’s not too bad looking, either.
Okay, so this one might be a stretch but after all, if we knew everything that would happen on General Hospital in advance what would be the fun, right? Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) is currently married to Nina, and his obsession with Anna (Finola Hughes) has us thinking there’s a fine line between hate and passion – especially in soaps. But Carly has a track record of consorting romantically with men just like Valentin: think Jason Morgan, Sonny, Johnny Zacchara, and Lorenzo Alcazar. And Carly has yet to date a Cassadine…
There’s always the possibility that a new character will capture Carly’s eye. General Hospital spoilers has yet to report a casting call that fits the bill, but we will continue to keep our eyes and ears open. A new character might give Carly a fresh, fun storyline.
