General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) may be gone from Port Charles although no one realizes it yet. It could be that her identical twin Alexandra Devane (Finola Hughes) has taken her place and this is all a big scheme by Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).
Ever since Anna stopped by Wyndemere to make her big confession to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), Anna has not seemed like herself. When she ran into Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) outside Kelly’s Diner after she left Valentin, Anna was behaving strangely and their hug was awkward.
Anna made a face behind Griffin’s back that indicated she was uncomfortable being that close to him. General Hospital spoilers know that’s unlike Anna since she’s very fond of Griffin and sees him as a sort of surrogate son. Then Anna brushed him off as fast as she could and walked away to go have a cup of tea alone.
Anna is also dressed differently than usual, her hair doesn’t look like normal, and she’s wearing a distinctive ring we’ve never seen before. Also, when “Anna” confessed to Valentin, she mentioned Faison was forcing her to pilfer secrets from the WSB and was mind controlling her.
General Hospital spoilers tease that Cesar Faison definitely seems to be involved here and the plot may run deeper than anyone suspects. We all know that Faison is utterly obsessed with Anna. It’s why Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) despises Anna. Once Anna asked for info on Valentin from Faison, Cesar decided to make a move.
Faison didn’t want it to come out that he used Alexandra as a substitute for Anna to seduce Valentin and steal information for him. That’s why “Anna” told Valentin she suddenly recovered the memories. This fake Anna never lost the memories and real Anna never had them.
When Anna read the file Obrecht gave her, she suspected something was up and said she had to leave town. It’s quite possible Faison kidnapped Anna while she was on a fact-finding mission and has now replaced her with her twin sister Alex so he can have Anna to himself.
No doubt Faison would find Alexandra physically appealing, but she’s not Anna so she would be a poor substitute. But imagine if Faison had the chance to swap Alexandra in for Anna. That way he could keep Anna all to himself and no one would even know she was gone.
As to why Alexandra knows the people in Port Charles, that’s an easy explanation. Fake Anna told Valentin that Faison is a master hypnotist. So he could have hypnotized the real Anna to extract memories from her of the people she interacts with and Alex would have the info.
On Wednesday’s GH episode, April 12, Anna tearfully tells Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) she won’t be party to her war with Valentin anymore. Laura won’t like it and thinks it’s strange. But it’s not so strange if that’s not Anna talking to her and it’s Alexandra.
And, who knows, perhaps Alexandra legitimately has a soft spot for Valentin. Too bad Valentin thought it was Anna in his bed. He’ll be stunned to find out the Anna he cared about is not the woman who let him make love to her. Look for this shocking reveal during General Hospital May sweeps.
