General Hospital (GH) spoilers CDL reported back in January have now been confirmed – Jane Elliot is retiring from GH and that means Tracy Quartermaine will exit the character canvas of Port Charles but how will she go? With Olivia “Liv” Jerome’s scheme promising a major character death, will it be Tracy that dies?
Tracy wasn’t involved with Liv’s original story back in the day, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pull her into that storyline now. After all, Franco (Roger Howarth) and Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) are part of it now, so why not Tracy? Since the hospital is centric to Liv’s story, it makes sense to involve Tracy.
This is a good time for Tracy to leave since Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins) is settled down with Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin), whom Tracy likes. Plus, Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth) seems set on wedding Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero) despite Olivia’s commitment-phobia issues. Her kid are settled.
Tracy also has a mother-like attachment to Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) but Hayden is doing pretty well, too. Hayden has the hospital finances taken care of and helped Tracy save GH. The only loose end for Tracy is her friend Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) who is a hot mess right now.
Tracy now knows about Finn’s addiction but it seems like she can whip him into shape pretty quickly. Spoilers for March 21 show Tracy confronting Finn and him being at a crossroads in his life. No doubt Finn will be forced to clean up his act then Tracy’s work in Port Charles is done, although she will be missed.
Liv Jerome portrayer Tonja Walker said she would only be on GH through mid-March but the latest spoilers have her on screen through at least March 23. That bumps up against Jane Elliot’s confirmed departure when her GH contract ends in Spring 2017 which starts officially on March 20.
If Liv does kill Tracy on her way out of town, it aligns with the end of the contract and would send Tracy out with a bang but this is only one way Tracy might depart Port Charles. It would be plausible enough for Tracy to catch a bullet meant for one of Liv’s enemies at the hospital like Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) or Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
It just seems highly unlikely that Tracy would willingly walk away from her sons and out of Port Charles. Perhaps if Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) came back to take Spanky Buns away with him, that would work, but otherwise, why would Tracy voluntarily leave Port Charles? That hints at death.
For the legion of GH fans that love Tracy, giving her a big send-off would be appropriate and nothing does that like a big fancy Quartermaine funeral. That opens up the opportunity for lots of flashbacks and reminiscence about all her time on General Hospital. Plus, the Quartermaines like to haunt.
With Tracy dead, she could come back and haunt her kids and family now and again if Jane is open to the occasional ghostly cameo. What do you think GH fans? If Liv doesn’t kill Tracy, how else will GH plan her departure? Why would Tracy leave her sons and run off out of town?
