General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Steve Burton’s (ex-Jason) return will come with some surprises. You probably know by now that Burton is headed back to the ABC soap for a long-term stint. However, GH is staying tight-lipped on the details of Burton’s character. They’re hoping to blow fans away with whatever they’re cooking up.
Fortunately, there are some hints about where the show is going with this storyline. General Hospital spoilers say Burton will be added back in an interesting way. Jean Passanante just wrapped up her run as one of the show’s co-head writers, but she had some influence in this hot plot. She worked with Shelly Altman to concoct something they think will satisfy GH viewers.
In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, Passanante noted that they’re going to acknowledge Burton’s appearance. They won’t ignore the fact that he has Jason’s old face, which could be a crucial clue. Burton’s character may come on the scene as somebody new initially. He may think he’s an entirely different person.
Burton might show up in town as someone else, but people will notice his resemblance to Jason’s old look. It could lead Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) or another character to investigate. Naturally, all of this will shake things up for Billy Miller’s version of Jason. Sam (Kelly Monaco) may start to wonder who’s the real deal.
Miller’s Jason recovered his memories, but GH could surely come up with a way around that. After all, this is the crazy soap world. Pretty much anything goes. There’s a good chance Burton will be revealed as the real Jason sooner or later.
Steve Burton recently shared an old Jason pic on Instagram to get fans excited for his return. His caption offered another possible hint. Burton asked, “Will I play this guy again????” He added “#jasonornot” toward the end of the post.
Would Burton get everyone all hyped up like this if he’s not going to reprise his role? He really seems to love the part of Jason Morgan and that may have been a big reason he agreed to come back. As for Miller, he could get some awesome Emmy reel material out of this. Jason will struggle with questions about himself as Burton’s character enters the picture.
