General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Steve Burton is indeed returning to the ABC soap opera as announced during yesterday’s episode, June 28. Burton has played the role of Jason Morgan/ Jason Quartermaine, son of the late Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) and Dr. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) since 1999.
He won over the hearts of fans all over the world, so when he left GH and soon joined CBS’ The Young and the Restless as Dylan McAvoy, fans were very verbal about their disapproval, even more so when Billy Miller was hired as a recast for our beloved Jason – no one feeling any actor could truly replace the one true Jason Morgan: Steve Burton!
Although General Hospital’s announcement of Steve Burton coming back was a bit of a shock, some fans are ecstatic, while others are a bit more pessimistic about it; although there is no doubt everyone is pleased about him returning, there is a couple things viewers need to take into consideration: 1. The announcement never said how long he was coming back for and 2. it is unclear whether he is back as the much loved Jason or someone totally different. CDL reports that Steve Burton will play Jason for sure.
How do you feel about Burton coming back, are you a fan of Billy Miller and his more more casual portrayal of Jason; making him more like a Quartermaine than mob enforcer or are you hoping Steve Burton’s return means Stone Cold has returned in full force?
It is entirely possible that we will have a case of the two Jasons, similar to when ABC’s One Live to Live (OLTL) had two Todds in Llanview at the same time, Roger Howarth and Trevor St. John. The main question remains, will Burton come back as the real Jason or will he just be another victim of Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) brain washing?
