General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Steve Burton’s (ex-Jason Morgan) upcoming return will bring serious drama. Since we already have a Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) in Port Charles, there’s definitely going to be some confusion. GH fans are wondering whether Burton or Miller will be the real deal, but maybe there’s a more important question to ask.
Before Burton’s character makes his way on canvas and creates an uproar, we should dig a little deeper into Jason’s past. GH will undoubtedly have to do a bit of rewriting to make all of this work. Will they change Jason’s paternity? General Hospital often shifts around certain aspects of character histories, so this might be a setup for a future plot point.
Jason’s biological mother, Susan Moore (Gail Ramsey), had an affair with Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). Their relationship supposedly resulted in Jason’s birth and he was later adopted by Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson). It’s entirely possible that Susan really had Alan’s child, but there’s another critically important option to consider.
Susan also knew Frank Smith (last played by Joe Cortese) before her pregnancy. She had a crush on Frank and it’s reasonable to assume that she was playing the field. Alan was married, so it’s not like Susan was obligated to stay loyal. She could’ve had a fling with Frank while she was Alan’s mistress.
Once Susan learned she was pregnant, she may have realized she had two options. First, she could say the baby’s father was Alan of the esteemed Quartermaine clan. Naturally, Susan would associate that family with wealth, respect and a solid upbringing. What more could a “baby mama” ask for? Susan might’ve decided her best bet was to act like the child was Alan’s.
Despite what Susan claimed, could Jason have actually belonged to Frank? Whether she knew that or not, Susan probably wouldn’t have wanted to admit it. Frank was the head of a crime family, so Susan wouldn’t have voluntarily sent her son down such a vicious path.
Of course, Jason ended up taking that route anyway. If you look at his history, you could argue that that kind of life was in his blood. Perhaps Jason inherited Frank’s tendency to solve problems with violence. It’s worth mulling over since several facts about Jason are sure to be turned upside down. General Hospital spoilers hint that we’ll see major bombshells during the double Jason mayhem.
