General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Robert Palmer Watkins will be exiting the role of Dillon Quartermaine. Many GH fans were outraged by Watkins’ firing, so it’s clear that there’s a demand for him in the soap world. Although Watkins has been busy working on a new film, he might be open to the idea of working on another daytime drama.
Could Watkins join Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas Cassadine) over on Days of Our Lives? DOOL’s head writer, Ron Carlivati, obviously seems to like GH alumni. General Hospital should be careful about which performers they let go! Carlivati could easily push Days to snatch up more departing actors or actresses in the coming months.
Some General Hospital fans have already been hoping Rebecca Budig (Hayden Barnes) might make her way over to Days of Our Lives. Budig revealed that she hadn’t been contacted by DOOL during an interview with Michael Fairman, but that doesn’t mean there’s no hope. You never know what the future might bring. Someone as talented as Budig still has plenty to offer any soap that’s interested.
As for Watkins, there’s definitely a place for a charismatic actor like him on Days of Our Lives. In fact, there’s a role that might be the perfect fit. Some DOOL fans have been tossing around Watkins’ name as a possible Nathan Horton recast. It’s easy to see Watkins sliding right into the part of this young doctor.
Of course, Watkins could also be brought in as a new character. Most soap viewers would just enjoy seeing him as usual on weekday afternoons. General Hospital’s loss could be Days of Our Lives’ gain. They just have to take advantage of this opportunity.
General Hospital spoilers hint that Kiki (Haley Erin) has some tough moments coming up. Her split from Dillon should be difficult to get past. It should be hard for GH fans to say goodbye as well. Fortunately, the chance that Watkins could pop up somewhere else provides a little comfort.
