‘House of Cards’ Season 5 spoilers indicate that Frank Underwood and Claire Underwood are back, and they are more darker than ever. In fact, a new teaser trailer has Frank (played by actor Kevin Spacey) delivering a chilling message that promises plenty of ‘terror.’
The highly-rated American political drama returns to Netflix on May 30th. The date was revealed at the end of the Pledge of Allegiance while both Frank and Claire are witnessing the execution of a man held by hostages by a terrorist. Frank then delivers a chilling message to viewers. “That’s right. We don’t submit to terror. We make the terror,” he said in the grim teaser.
The clip once again proves that the Underwood are definitely up to no good. As many fans know, Frank Underwood and his wife Claire Underwood (played by actress Robin Wright) rose to power by undermining many of their political friends and allies in Washington, D.C. Even though they’ve had plenty of ups and downs in their marriage, Claire has always stood by Frank’s side.
This is mostly because she is just as power-hungry and ruthless as he is. During Season 4, President Frank Underwood was still recovering from an almost-fatal shooting. He was running for a second term with his wife Claire as his running mate.
Reports indicate that the show’s original creator and writer, Beau Willimon, won’t be back for the fifth season. He said that it was simply time for him to move on from the drama and that the show could benefit from new ideas from a fresh batch of writers. This is mostly because Season 4’s viewership dipped compared to previous seasons.
Even though Netflix doesn’t release viewership numbers, many outside sources believe that an estimated 5 million of Netflix’s 75 million subscribers watched the first episode of Season 4 back in 2016. So far, Netflix has not made any comments about their viewership numbers.
So does this mean that Frank Underwood and Claire Underwood are going to surprise viewers with more dark drama and surprises? Will President Underwood die at the end of the season? Fans will just have to tune in to find out.
