Kate Middleton’s Private Secretary Rebecca Deacon Quits Job: Duchess Left In Middle Of PR Nightmare?

Kate Middleton’s PR team is in crisis mode right now. That’s because the Duchess’ private secretary, Rebecca Deacon, is stepping down from her role. Reports indicate that Rebecca Deacon will be stepping down from her role right after she marries her fiancé, Adam Priestley. She was Kate’s right hand woman for five years and was responsible for coordinating all of the Duchess’ public events. She was also often seen carrying gifts for the royals and bouquets of flowers during William and Kate’s royal tours.

For the Duchess of Cambridge, this is devastating news. That’s because of her awful reputation for being a work-allergic royal who refuses to do more public appearances and royal engagements than she has to. Plus, she relied on Rebecca to do everything for her.

In fact, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s entire communications team has been criticized several times in the past for their PR gaffes. One report indicated that Prince William blamed his entire team for all of the couple’s awful headlines even though many critics say he’s the one who has been tone deaf over the years. One example was Prince William announcing his anti-poaching initiative right after he took a highly-publicized hunting trip. Surely, he doesn’t want a gaffe like that to happen again.

The last thing Kate Middleton needs right now is her PR team going in different directions. But this has been going on for years now. Some insiders believe one of the reasons why William and Kate have had a hard time retaining their staff members of the years is because they refuse to listen to their advice. Insiders say that William wants to take control of everything that goes on behind closed doors. He has gone against his PR’s team advice in often keeping the press in the dark about his whereabouts.

With the royal communication team in crisis mode, Kate is hoping to find someone trustworthy enough that can do Rebecca’s job and hopefully, help keep the Duchess’ name out of negative headlines. Some are even calling Kate’s private secretary role one of the most stressful jobs in the British monarchy. Do you agree?
