Kate Middleton is set to attend the opening day of Wimbledon this year. New reports indicate that the Duchess of Cambridge will be up front and center at the opening day of the championship on July 3. This year will also mark her first Wimbledon as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. She took over the patronage from Queen Elizabeth last year.
There’s no doubt that Kate Middleton has always been a life-long tennis fan. But if there’s one thing that she loves more than the sport, it’s being in the spotlight with Hollywood A-list stars. And that’s exactly what she is looking forward to this year. While she’s scheduled to meet the tournament’s staff, medical and safety team, there’s also a good chance that she will be mingling with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, too.
Of course, a lot of royal observers have noticed that if there’s one thing that Kate Middleton loves, it’s mingling with Hollywood A-list stars. And Wimbledon is the perfect place to do it. Kate knows she’ll have an opportunity to rub elbows with everyone from David and Victoria Beckham to Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk and more.
Kate supposedly delayed her planned trip to Germany and Poland with Prince William just so she can attend the tournament. There’s no way that she would miss out on Wimbledon, especially knowing that so many Hollywood stars would be in the stands with her.
Wimbledon also gives Kate Middleton a great opportunity to once again make headlines for her show-stopping style. Knowing how much the cameras love her, Kate will look picture perfect at the event. Back in 2015, the Duchess wore a red-hot L.K. Bennett dress that made everyone’s head turns in the stand. Last year she wore an almost $3,000 Alexander McQueen dress while watching Serena Williams storm through the final. In fact, she often looks more sultry than sporty at the event. And there’s a good chance that she’ll do it again this year.
Kate Middleton has so far made no comments about her plans for Wimbledon this year. But then again a lot of fans know that the only thing the Duchess needs to do is show up and smile.
