Kate Middleton Visits King's College Hospital: Praises Staff For Treating London Bridge Attack Victims

Kate Middleton visited the patients of the London Bridge terror attacks. The Duchess of Cambridge was enjoying some time off, but she’s back to her regular duties. She took the time to speak with the staff at King’s College Hospital on Monday, June 12, reports the Daily Mail.

The hospital treated fourteen patients who were involved in the hit-and-run and stabbings that took place in London on June 3. Kate Middleton even showed some personality and met with the hospital staff, most of whom treated the patients.

Emergency consultant Malcolm Tunnicliff was impressed by Kate Middleton and her appearance at the hospital. She praised her and the other royals for visiting the hospital. Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall visited the patients earlier this month. Malcolm told Kate that the patients’ moods have improved since the visits.

Out of the 48 who were injured, 14 were taken to King’s College Hospital. One of the patients is expected to leave soon. The other 13 were treated for stab wounds. Seven of those people are still in critical condition and are receiving around-the-clock treatment. Eight people have died in the London terror attacks by three attackers, who crashed into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbed others at nearby restaurants and bars in Borough Market. The attackers were shot at the scene by authorities.

Kate Middleton was greeted by Nick Moberly, the hospital’s chief executive and professor Julie Wendon. She also spoke to two team leads, Jane Bond of Gold Command and Silver Command’s Mark Madams. Photos surfaced of the Duchess sitting with the staff and talking to them. In other photos, she’s seen walking around the hospital and shaking the hands of the staff. Kate Middleton also praised the staff for taking care of their patients.

Malcolm told PEOPLE that Kate Middleton was “really affected” by the staff’s work. She was not faking it during her visit. He also added that it was nice of Kate to take time out of her royal life to come into the hospital and sees what the staff does in high emergency situations. The Duchess was shocked to hear about the many women who suffered multiple and severe injuries.

Kate Middleton’s visit comes after husband Prince William visited Manchester on June 2. There, he paid tribute to those who helped the victims of the terror attacks at Ariana Grande’s concert on May 22. He also visited some of the young patients at the hospital. During Kate Middleton’s visit, she spent most of her time with the senior hospital officials to ensure that psychological help was made available to the patients and staff following the terror attacks.
