Legendary actress Mary Tyler Moore has died. The longtime performer was 80 years old. She died on Wednesday in a Connecticut hospital surrounded by her husband of 33 years 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine, their family, and friends. The death of Mary Tyler Moore was reported today by her agent, Mara Buxbaum.

“A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”

Prior to her passing, Moore was reportedly on a respirator for more than a week before she was taken off of life support on January 24. She passed away shortly after.

Mary Tyler Moore had her fair share of health struggles over the course of her life. The Dick Van Dyke star underwent brain surgery back in 2011 to remove a benign tumor. Moore, who was married three times, also dealt with heart and kidney issues, as well as a battle with diabetes and alcoholism.

Moore was last seen on the small screen when she appeared opposite Betty White in the comedy series Hot in Cleveland. Moore made a cameo appearance. She also appeared as a guest star on That ’70s Show and Lipstick Jungle.

Moore’s most notable roles and rise to fame includes the Dick Van Dyke show where she appeared opposite Dyke as a stay-at-home mom, Laura Petrie. The series ran for 6 seasons, and earned a number of awards.

The Oscar winner was shortly cast in her own show The Mary Tyler Moore Show. The show ran for seven seasons on CBS following Moore as a single working mother. Moore appeared alongside Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman. The show was a hit. Moore reunited with Harper decades later on the her TV Land comedy in what would be her last public performance.
