Hollywood actress Meghan Markle bid adieu to her lifestyle blog, “The Tig” on Friday, amid speculation of an impending engagement to Prince Harry. The couple have been dating for over six months, initially keeping the relationship a secret. Seems a bit soon to pop the question, but who are we to judge true love? Meghan’s website was a “passion project” named after the wine called Tignanello with which she experienced an “aha moment” that she wanted to translate to art and fashion through blogging.
Meghan wrote a parting note to her fans before closing her blog and signing off, “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’ Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything. Xx. Meghan Markle.”
There is also talk that next season will be her last on the USA TV show Suits. Somewhat similarly, Kate Middleton quit her job as a project manager at her parents’ business months before marrying Prince William, to focus on planning the wedding. Could Meghan be severing ties with outside commitments to prepare for British royal life and the official duties that come with it?
Members of Meghan’s family have already been banned because of their shady behavior. One can’t help but wonder what Queen Elizabeth thinks about Prince Harry’s soon to be fiancé? The British royal family prides itself on discretion and maintaining a healthy balance between privacy and public accessibility.
This appears to be the beginning of Meghan’s transition, as she distances herself from social media and begins to concentrate on her relationship with Prince Harry and all the demands that it entails. Princess Meghan has a nice ring to it, right? Which begs the question, will we ever see another princess as beloved as Prince Harry’s mum, Princess Diana?
